The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed forward Radim Zohorna and goaltender Magnus Hellberg to one-year contracts, and forward Marc Johnstone to a two-year contract, it was announced today by President of Hockey Operations Kyle Dubas.

Zohorna is signed through the 2023-24 season, and his contract carries an average annual value of $775,000 at the NHL level. Hellberg is signed through the 2023-24 season, and his contract carries an average annual value of $785,000 at the NHL level. Johnstone is signed through the 2024-25 season and his contract carries an average annual value of $775,000 at the NHL level.

Zohorna, 27, returns for his second tour of duty with Pittsburgh after spending two seasons in the Penguins organization from 2020-22, splitting time between Pittsburgh and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League. Over the course of two seasons, Zohorna recorded four goals, six assists and 10 points in 25 games at the NHL level.

This past season, the 6-foot-6, 220-pound Zohorna appeared in a total of 10 games at the NHL level with Calgary and Toronto, where he notched one goal. At the AHL level, he recorded 34 points (12G-22A) in 41 games with the Calgary Wranglers and Toronto Marlies.

Zohorna has played parts of three seasons in North America with Pittsburgh, Calgary and Toronto where he's suited up for 35 regular-season games, accumulating 11 points (5G-6A). He's recorded 66 points (27G-39A) in 102 career games at the AHL level with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Calgary and Toronto.

Zohorna played parts of seven seasons in the Czech Republic's top professional league between 2014-21, the Czech Extraliga, split between BK Mlada Boleslav and HC Kometa Brno. He is a two-time Czech Extraliga Champion, both with HC Kometa Brno in 2017 and 2018.

A native of Havlickuv Brod, Czech Republic, the undrafted forward represented his country most recently at the 2023 IIHF World Championship, where he appeared in three games.

Hellberg, 32, split the 2022-23 season between the Ottawa Senators, Seattle Kraken, Detroit Red Wings and the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League. In total, the goaltender went 14-5-8 at the NHL level, and 2-2-0 with a 2.50 goals-against average and .932 save percentage in the AHL.

The goaltender has played 13 seasons of professional hockey in various leagues such as the NHL, AHL, ECHL, KHL, HockeyAllsvenskan and Elitserien from 2011-23.

Hellberg has played in parts of five seasons in the NHL with Ottawa, Seattle, Detroit, the New York Rangers and Nashville Predators. In 23 career games, the 6-foot-6, 220-pound goaltender has gone 16-7-8 with a 3.14 goals-against average and .886 save percentage.

The 2015 AHL All Star has played parts of six seasons in the AHL with Milwaukee, Hartford and Grand Rapids, going 86-73-20 with a 2.49 goals-against average, .915 save percentage and 14 shutouts. He has also appeared in four playoff games, going 1-3-0 with a 1.69 goals-against average, .944 save percentage and one shutout.

In the KHL, Hellberg played in 169 games across five seasons, going 81-64-14 with a 2.00 goals-against average, .927 save percentage and 24 shutouts. He was named to the league's All-Star Game in 2018 and '19. Through 22 playoff games in the KHL, the goaltender has gone 16-4-0 through 22 games with a .940 save percentage, 1.39 goals-against average and four shutouts.

Internationally, the Uppsala, Sweden native has played for Team Sweden at two Olympic Games (2018 & '22) and two World Championships (2018 & '22). He won the gold medal at the 2018 World Championship, going 3-0-0 with a 1.63 goals-against average and .938 save percentage.

The goaltender was originally drafted in the second round (38th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft by the Nashville Predators.

Johnstone, 27, spent the 2022-23 season with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League. Last season, the 6-foot, 181-pound forward recorded nine goals, 13 assists and 22 points in 69 games, plus tacked on one assist in seven playoff games.

The Cranford, New Jersey native played parts of two seasons in the ECHL from 2021-22. With the Newfoundland Growlers in 2021-22, Johnstone tallied seven goals, 14 assists and 21 points in 58 games during the regular season and four goals, four assists and eight points in 19 postseason games. Johnstone joined the South Carolina Stingrays for five games following the conclusion of his collegiate career in 2020-21 and accumulated two assists.

Prior to his professional debut, Johnstone played four seasons of collegiate hockey with Sacred Heart University of the NCAA from 2017-21. He recorded 95 points (33G-62A) in 126 career NCAA games. The right-handed forward served as Sacred Heart's captain from 2019-21.

Johnstone spent two seasons in the United States Hockey League with the Chicago Steel from 2015-17. He recorded a total of 15 goals, 27 assists and 42 points in 119 career USHL games, and represented his team as an alternate captain in 2015-16 and captain in 2016-17. During the postseason, he accumulated three goals, 12 assists and 15 points in 14 games and won the USHL Clark Cup in 2017.
