MVPIndex is a "social media valuation for the sports and entertainment industries, offering real-time analytics on more than 90,000 athletes, entertainers, teams, leagues and brands across Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Google+ and YouTube," SBJ reported.
The Penguins also ranked second in "biggest team growth" with 360,000 new followers over the past year, trailing only the first-year Vegas Golden Knights.
Penguins center Evgeni Malkin ranked third among NHL players "who delivered the most value" on social media.
