The contract will begin when Addison turns pro. He is currently skating for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League on an amateur tryout contract for the remainder of the regular season.
Addison was Pittsburgh's top selection in the 2018 NHL Draft after being selected in the second round (53rd overall).
Addison, 18, enjoyed another superb season with the Western Hockey League's Lethbridge Hurricanes in 2018-19, ranking sixth among all WHL blueliners with 65 points (11G-54A) in 67 games. He tacked on nine points (2G-7A) in seven playoff contests.
One year ago in 2017-18, the 5-foot-10, 180-pound native of Brandon, Manitoba produced the exact same stat line as he did this year, albeit in one more game played (68 total). Addison starred in the 2018 playoffs for Lethbridge, placing second among league defensemen with 19 points (7G-12A) in 16 games.
Addison has skated for three-plus seasons with Lethbridge, compiling 202 games played, 31 goals, 132 assists and 163 points. In the playoffs, he has added 30 points (9G-21A) in 39 games.
