The 2019 Honda NHL All-Star Game, which will again be a 3-on-3 tournament between the four NHL divisions, will be held on Saturday, January 26 at 8:00 PM ET on NBC. One night prior, on Friday, January 25, will be the SAP All-Star Skills event at 9:00 PM ET, broadcast nationally on NBC Sports Network.
Crosby is in the midst of one of his best all-around seasons this year. He is once again the Pens' leader in both goals (18) and points (48). His point total is tied for 14th in the NHL, with his 1.33 points per game average the league's ninth-best figure. He is on pace for 105 points, which would be his highest total since he won the scoring title with 104 points in 2013-14.
Always one of the NHL's top offensive performers, this season he has been one of the league's top defensive forwards as well. His plus-16 currently ranks sixth (tied) among NHL forwards. He continues to handle heavy minutes, ranking among the top-20 forwards in both time on ice (20:33) and shift per game (25.3). Recently, he has added penalty killing duties, averaging 1:13 shorthanded minutes per game since December 15 for the NHL's sixth-best PK unit.
Pittsburgh begins the 2019 calendar year tonight with a visit to the New York Rangers at 7:00 PM at Madison Square Garden. The Penguins enter tonight's nationally televised contest on NBC Sports Network having won a season-high six-straight games, and eight of their last nine contests. Crosby has keyed this run, compiling multiple points in four-straight, and tallying at least one point in eight of the nine games (3G-13A-16PTS).
Crosby has contributed a goal and an assist in each of the last two All-Star Games, played in Tampa Bay and Los Angeles. He was the Metropolitan Division captain in 2017 in Los Angeles, when he was selected one of the NHL's 100 Greatest Players.
