matt cullen green laces

Pittsburgh Penguins players wore green skate laces at practice today to support the "Sports Matter" program with DICK'S Sporting Goods.

The DICK'S Sporting Goods Foundation created "Sports Matter" to support and help save youth sports around the country. Green laces have become a symbol of the program because virtually everyone playing or training for sports wears laces with their shoes or footwear.
From DICK'S Sporting Goods:
"Billions of dollars in funding have been cut from youth sports programs in recent years, leaving millions of students unable to play. The DICK'S Sporting Goods Foundation created the Sports Matter program because we believe that sports make people better. Sports build character, increase confidence and motivate kids to stay in school and aim for higher education. Since 2014, the Foundation, together with DICK'S Sporting Goods, has pledged over $50 million to give children the opportunity to play. Through these efforts, the Sports Matter initiative has raised awareness of the importance of youth sports and saved over 1,800 teams."
DICK'S Sporting Goods sells green laces to customers and donates $2 of each purchase back to the DICK'S Sporting Goods Foundation.
