Mike Fisher may no longer be captaining the Nashville Predators, but the honors keep on coming.
The Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame has announced Fisher as the recipient of their 2018 Professional Athlete of the Year Award, recognizing his contributions on and off the ice in the city of Nashville and the state of Tennessee. The award will be presented to Fisher at the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame's 52nd Annual Induction Banquet on Saturday, June 16 at the Omni-Nashville Hotel.
Fisher announced his retirement this past summer after 17 seasons in the NHL, with the final six-plus of those spent as a member of the Preds. The Peterborough, Ontario, native served as captain in his final season, leading the Predators to within two wins of a Stanley Cup.
