Gaudreau, Aberg Contracts Indicate Shift for Predators

Two players who began to make names for themselves when it mattered most will now get chances to do it all over again.
Forwards Pontus Aberg and Frederick Gaudreau each inked new deals with the Predators this week, ensuring their participation with the organization for at least the next two seasons.
Aberg's deal is for
two years and worth a total of $1.3 million
, while Gaudreau's three-year contract is a
two-way deal for the first two seasons
before morphing into a one-way deal worth $700,000 for the 2019-20 campaign.

Both skaters ended up playing important roles during Nashville's run to the 2017 Stanley Cup Final, beginning when Aberg scored the game-winner during Game Five of the Western Conference Final in Anaheim to give the Predators a 3-2 series lead, before they captured the Clarence S. Campbell Bowl just days later.
Aberg added a beauty of a tally in Game Two of the Final, but it was Gaudreau - originally recalled to Nashville from Milwaukee as a black ace and hardly a lock to see postseason game action - who scored three times in the first four games of the Cup Final and producing moments
that won't soon be forgotten.
Head Coach Peter Laviolette reiterated during his season ending press conference that no spot is guaranteed come Opening Night, but 'Po' and 'Freddie Hockey' figure to get their shots on a roster that enjoyed their contributions last spring.
They're certainly worth reliving.
