Game Day: Preds vs. Oilers Preview

After earning a point in a 1-0 overtime loss to the St. Louis Blues on Monday, the Nashville Predators (12-11-3) return home on Tuesday to host the Edmonton Oilers (16-13-0) at Bridgestone Arena.
The puck drops at 7 p.m. CT, and the game will be broadcast on Bally Sports South, 102.5 The Game and El Jefe Radio. Here's everything you need to know:

The Good Guys

• The Predators are 7-3-2 in 12 games since Nov. 12, tied for the seventh-best point percentage (.667) among NHL teams in that time span.They have allowed 2.42 goals-against per game since Nov. 12, the fourth-best mark in the League.
• Roman Josi has 20 points (6g-14a) in his last 19 games. He is inching closer to passing David Legwand for the most points in franchise history; Josi (563) needs three more points to tie Legwand (566) and four to pass him.
• Filip Forsberg (483) passed Martin Erat (481) and moved into sole possession of third place on the Predators' all-time points list on Nov. 8 at Seattle. He is eight points from becoming the third player in team history to reach the 500-point milestone. After recording an assist on Thursday at Tampa Bay, he leads Nashville in points with 23 (8g-15a) and has five multi-point outings in his last 17 games.

The Other Guys

The Oilers are also coming off a loss in the front end of a back-to-back after falling 3-2 to the Minnesota Wild on Monday. Edmonton had won three of its previous four contests leading up to the loss.
Despite failing to find the scoresheet in Monday's game, Oilers captain Connor McDavid leads all NHL skaters with 55 points (25g-30a). McDavid's linemate and alternate captain Leon Draisaitl is second in the league with 46 points (19g-27a).

All-Time Meetings

The Predators are 44-30-(3)-4 all-time against the Oilers, including a 22-15-(3)-0 record at Bridgestone Arena. This is the second of three matchups between Nashville and Edmonton in 2022-23 and the first of two at home.
The Predators are 0-1-0 against the Oilers this season, dropping a 7-4 decision at Rogers Place on Nov. 1. Nashville is seeking its first win over Edmonton since Feb. 25, 2019, a seven-game drought (0-6-1).

Notables vs. Edmonton:

• Juuse Saros set the Preds franchise record for most saves in a shutout when he posted 46 vs. Edmonton on Dec. 14, 2017. In eight career games vs. the Oilers, Saros is 2-4-1 with a 2.66 goals-against average and .928 save percentage.
• Ryan Johansen has 12 points (3g-9a) in his last 17 games against the Oilers dating back to March 14, 2016.
• Forsberg has averaged a point per game in his career vs. the Oilers, tallying 20 points (11g-9a) in 20 games, a mark bolstered by a three-point outing (1g-2a) on Nov. 1. He became the second player in NHL history to score a "lacrosse-style" goal in Nashville's game against Edmonton on Jan. 14, 2020.
• Matt Duchene owns 37 points (10g-27a) in 40 career games against the Oilers. He led all Nashville skaters with three points (2g-1a) in three games vs. Edmonton last season.
• Kevin Gravel tallied three assists in 36 games with the Oilers in 2018-19.
• Preds prospect Luke Prokop is a native of Edmonton.

Last Time Out

Nashville moved to 5-7-1 on the road in 2022-23 with Monday's OT loss to St. Louis. The Predators are now 4-3 in overtime/shootouts this season (2-2 in OT; 2-1 in shootout). It was Nashville's seventh time allowing just one goal this season and first time doing so since Dec. 2 in a 4-1 win over the New York Islanders.
