The third outing of a five-game homestand arrives tonight for the Nashville Predators, and it doesn't get much bigger than this in the month of February.
The Preds host the Calgary Flames this evening at Bridgestone Arena in a battle of two teams who sit just two points apart in the Western Conference Wild Card slots. Calgary has 72 points, while Nashville has 70 points and the Preds have two games in hand on the Flames.
Nashville is perfect on the homestand thus far, starting with a shootout win over the Blue Jackets on Saturday before following it up with another victory over Ottawa on Tuesday. That result gives the Preds points in six of their last seven outings overall and nine wins in their last 14 games.
Now, the group simply wants to keep the momentum going with just 20 games to go in the regular season.

"The most important thing is, not so much you wake up today and you're in the Wild Card spot, but I think if we get into every other day, 'Are we in one, are we out of one?' I think it's important now that we really focus on the Calgary game, and keep that short-term focus like we have," Preds Head Coach John Hynes said. "We haven't really discussed whether we were in or out [or have a] certain amount of points. We try to stay with the present focus, because as you know, it could flip-flop the next 10 games every other day. But it's more about how we're playing in these games and are we finding a way to do our job? The only thing we can control is how we play and if we can find ways to win."
After missing Tuesday's game due to illness, Preds goaltender Pekka Rinne was back on the ice during Wednesday's practice. Netminder Connor Ingram, who was recalled under emergency conditions prior to Tuesday's game, also remained with the club on Wednesday.
Defenseman Korbinian Holzer, who was acquired on Monday from Anaheim, has not yet played for his new team.

Last Time Out:
Colin Blackwell, Ryan Ellis and Viktor Arvidsson tallied for the Preds during Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Senators. The goals from Ellis and Arvidsson both came on the power play, and Ellis's marker was his first since returning to the lineup after missing 20 games due to injury. Juuse Saros made 33 saves on the night to pick up the win in net.
Roman Josi leads the club with 57 points, followed by Filip Forsberg with 42 and Matt Duchene with 38. Forsberg has 18 goals on the season; Nick Bonino and Craig Smith have 17 tallies each, and Mikael Granlund has 15 goals.

The Opposition:
Calgary has won three of their last four, including a 5-2 victory in Boston on Tuesday night. Matthew Tkachuk leads the club with 54 points, followed by Johnny Gaudreau with 53 points and Elias Lindholm with 50 points. Lindholm has 27 goals on the season, Tkachuk and Sean Monahan have 21 goals apiece and Gaudreau has tallied on 16 occasions. David Rittich is 24-15-5 in net for the Flames; Cam Talbot is 9-10-1 in 19 starts.
All-Time Meetings:
The Predators are 35-25-(4)-12 all-time against the Flames, including a 19-12-(1)-7 record at Bridgestone Arena. In the previous 11 meetings between the two clubs, Nashville is 5-3-3.
On home ice, Nashville has earned at least a point in seven of their last 10 games versus Calgary (2-3-5). The Preds have only lost three times to the Flames in regulation since March 29, 2015, and have picked up at least one point in 21 of their last 28 games.
