A home-and-home series between the Nashville Predators and Minnesota Wild opens tonight in St. Paul, with part two being played tomorrow night in Music City.
The two-game set is the fifth of 11 scheduled back-to-backs for the Predators this season. Nashville is 4-0-0 in the first half of a back-to-back and 3-1-0 in the second half.

The Wild erased a 3-0 Predators' lead on Nov. 16 to prevail 6-4 and hand Nashville one of only three regulation losses during the month of November.

Last Time Out:
On Wednesday, Pekka Rinne and the Predators nearly shut out the St. Louis Blues for the second consecutive time as Nashville built a 2-0 lead before allowing a third-period goal to Vladimir Sobotka. Nashville held on for their second victory of the season at Scottrade Center and leapfrogged the Blues for first place in the Central Division with the win.
Rinne made 29 saves and Calle Jarnkrok scored the game-winning tally as the Preds snapped a three-game skid (0-2-1).
"You don't want to get stuck in those streaks," Rinne said. "It can be really hard to get out of those. We talked about it before the game, and I think the break was good timing for us. We had a little bit of a chance to just [sit] back and relax and spend some time with the families, but we knew coming into tonight it was a big game and we didn't want to [lose] four in a row."
Filip Forsberg leads Nashville with 15 goals and 34 points, followed by Kevin Fiala with 26 points and P.K. Subban with 25. Rinne is 19-6-3 in net with a .924 save percentage; Juuse Saros is 3-3-2 with a .918 save percentage.

The Opposition:
The Wild sit in the final playoff spot in the Western Conference, with Central teams holding five of the possible eight positions. Minnesota topped Dallas, the last team to beat the Preds, 4-2, on home ice on Wednesday night.
The Wild will play their second of two in a row at home following a four-game trip before the Christmas Break that saw them go 1-3-0 (with losses to Chicago, Florida and Tampa Bay).
Eric Staal and Jason Zucker are tied for the Wild lead in goals with 15; Staal paces the club in points with 32. On the blue line, former Preds defenseman Ryan Suter is tops on the Wild with 18 assists. In net, Devan Dubnyk is 12-8-2 with a .916 save percentage; Alex Stalock is 7-7-1 with a .915 save percentage.

All-Time Meetings:
The Predators are 31-23-5-8 all-time against the Wild, including a 13-14-3-4 record at the Xcel Energy Center. Nashville has won five of its last eight road games vs. Minnesota, including a four-game winning streak from April 13, 2014 to Nov. 5, 2015.
Notables Versus Minnesota:
On Jan. 22, 2017, Peter Laviolette became the 25th head coach in NHL history to win 500 games, as Filip Forsberg scored two goals - including the game-winner - in a 4-2 Nashville victory at Minnesota.
Filip Forsberg scored his first career NHL goal on Oct. 8, 2013 versus Minnesota's Josh Harding. Calle Jarnkrok set a career high for points in a game with three (1g-2a) on April 13, 2014 at Minnesota. P.K. Subban notched his only career hat trick on March 20, 2011, against the Wild, and Craig Smith tallied four points (2g-2a) - a career high - on April 13, 2014 at Minnesota.
