The Christmas Break has concluded, and the Nashville Predators are back on the road in search of an end to their three-game winless skid. The Preds and Blues get together tonight in St. Louis in the second meeting of the season, both of which have come at Scottrade Center.
Tonight's contest will determine who holds first place in the Central Division by the end of the night; St. Louis is currently one point ahead of Nashville with 48.
After putting together wins in 16 of 20, the Predators fell at home to Winnipeg and Carolina last week, before a shootout loss in Dallas on Saturday. The Predators welcomed the timing of the three-day break, a chance to rest up and regroup before beginning a stretch of three games in four days.

"We have to be confident," Predators Captain Roman Josi said after the loss in Dallas. "Every team goes through these phases. The last three games, we didn't play the way we wanted, but we're a confident group. We're a pretty honest group, and I think everybody knows we can play a lot better.
"But for now, just enjoy Christmas, forget about hockey for a little bit, and I'm sure everybody is going to come back hungry. We all know we have to be better, but we have to stay confident and come back positive with a lot of energy."

Last Time Out:
The Predators took an early 2-0 lead in Dallas, but eventually fell in a shootout to the Stars. Alexei Emelin, Calle Jarnkrok and Ryan Johansen scored in the loss, while Juuse Saros made 25 saves through 65 minutes. Kevin Fiala saw his nine-game point streak come to a close; however, defenseman P.K. Subban extended his point streak to six games.
Filip Forsberg leads Nashville with 15 goals and 33 points, followed by Fiala with 26 points and Subban with 25. Pekka Rinne is 18-6-3 in net with a .923 save percentage.
The Opposition:
The Blues snapped a three-game losing streak of their own with a 3-1 win over Vancouver before the holiday break. Brayden Schenn is tops on the team with 17 goals and 40 points, followed by Vladimir Tarasenko with 36 points and Jaden Schwartz with 35. However, Schwartz remains on Injured Reserve and will not play tonight. Jake Allen has gone 18-10-2 this season; former Pred Carter Hutton is 5-3-0.

All-Time Meetings:
The Predators are 50-41-4-11 all-time against the Blues, including a 23-24-1-5 mark at Scottrade Center. Nashville has won five of the last seven games against St. Louis and has scored at least four goals in three of those wins. The Preds won the first meeting between the two teams this season, a 2-0 shutout in St. Louis on Nov. 24.
Notables Versus St. Louis:
Pekka Rinne recorded his 45th career shutout against St. Louis on Nov. 24, passing Miikka Kiprusoff for most among Finnish-born goaltenders in NHL history. Filip Forsberg has 19 points (9g-10a) in 17 career games against the Blues and Ryan Johansen is on a four-game point streak (3g-3a) versus St. Louis.
