After becoming the first team to clinch a spot in the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Nashville Predators will try for a clean sweep of another road trip tonight when they meet the Sabres in Buffalo. The Preds have collected victories over Arizona and Colorado thus far on the trip, and the win on Friday night in Denver punched Nashville's ticket to the postseason.
The Predators have set a franchise record with points in 14 consecutive road games, and they'll try to rewrite another record tonight as they look for points in 15 consecutive contests overall, with former Preds Assistant Coach Phil Housley, now the head coach in Buffalo, and the Sabres in their way.
And although they worked together during the past three seasons, Preds Head Coach Peter Laviolette doesn't expect a carbon copy of Nashville's game plan from his former assistant.

"He's brought his own identity to his team," Laviolette said of Housley. "I think I've always learned from people that I've worked with… I think you're constantly watching other people and learning from other people. Not every game is the same, but there's a blueprint I think on the way most teams play."

Last Time Out:
Just as they had done in their previous six away from home, the Predators came back from a deficit on the road once more with Colton Sissons and Filip Forsberg each tallying twice to propel their club over the Avalanche by a 4-2 final. Goaltender Juuse Saros earned his eighth win of the season as the Preds improved to 7-1-1 in both ends of back-to-back situations.
Viktor Arvidsson continues to lead the Preds with 26 goals and 53 points, followed by Forsberg and P.K. Subban with 51 points apiece. Kevin Fiala has 23 goals on the season, Craig Smith has 21 and Forsberg hit the 20-goal mark on Friday.
The Opposition:
Buffalo has points in three of their last four outings, including a 5-3 win over the Blackhawks on Saturday. Jack Eichel returned to the lineup in that contest, and the Sabres could get Kyle Okposo back tonight against the Preds. Eichel leads the team with 22 goals and 54 points, followed by Ryan O'Reilly with 52 points and Sam Reinhart with 42 points. Goaltender Chad Johnson could get the start tonight and is 8-11-3 on the season. Robin Lehner is 14-25-9.

All-Time Meetings:
The Predators are 13-7-(1)-2 all-time against the Sabres, including a 9-1-(1)-0 record on the road. Nashville has earned at least a point in seven of its last eight meetings (6-1-1) against Buffalo and has won six consecutive road games over Buffalo, a streak that dates back to Dec. 1, 2008. The Preds have limited the Sabres to two-or-fewer goals in four of those games.
Notables Versus Buffalo:
Ryan Johansen is on a personal six-game point streak versus Buffalo, tallying seven points (1g-6a). Filip Forsberg has four points (3g-1a) in his last two games against Buffalo, while Mike Fisher has four goals in his last five meetings with the Sabres.
