ShowerUp Nashville, founded in 2016 by Paul and Rhonda Schmitz, is a non-profit organization that provides those in need with shower services and access to personal care that may otherwise be out of reach. By utilizing mobile shower units, ShowerUp provides hot showers, clean towels and toiletries to the homeless and those in times of transition.
"We are so appreciative of SmileDirectClub's support and participation that make possible unique and substantial SuperGrants that will dramatically impact organizations throughout Middle Tennessee," said Senior Director of Community Relations Rebecca King. "SuperGrants offer life-altering programs and projects to individuals working to transform their lives. We are thrilled to present our first Smashville SuperGrant to ShowerUp as they open doors for people striving for new beginnings and opportunities in our community."
To further support ShowerUp's efforts, the Foundation will host a drive prior to and at Saturday's matchup between the Predators and Red Wings. Fans are encouraged to bring travel-sized toiletries or monetary donations to the Bridgestone Arena plaza before the game, where they can also view the ShowerUp mobile truck and new Ford truck. Donations can also be brought to the Foundation Area (outside of Section 106/107). Requested items include shampoo, conditioner, soap and body wash, loofas and washcloths, deodorant, shaving cream, toothbrushes and toothpaste. Additionally, World Smile Day Mystery Pucks will be available for purchase.
In addition to the collections from tomorrow's drive, the Nashville Predators Foundation will provide ShowerUp with suits donated by players and staff, an initiative started in 2017 by Preds forward Austin Watson.
"We're honored to be partnering with the Nashville Predators Foundation to provide our first SuperGrant in support of ShowerUp," says co-founder of SmileDirectClub Alex Fenkell. "Our mission at SmileDirectClub is to provide our customers with the confidence they need to transform their lives and we're thrilled to support an organization with a likeminded mission that is helping so many people in our hometown of Nashville."
Through this multi-year partnership, additional SuperGrants will be distributed throughout the season, and will range from $25,000 to $100,000.
