Predators Sign Jeremy Lauzon to Four-Year, $8 Million Contract

Nashville, Tenn. (June 13, 2022) - Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the team has signed defenseman Jeremy Lauzon to a four-year, $8 million contract.
"When we acquired Jeremy back in March, we felt he was a player with a bright future who would help solidify our blueline moving forward, so we are excited to have him remain with the Predators," Poile said. "Jeremy jumped right into our lineup with his physical style of play and fits the identity that we like to bring each night. At just 25 years old, he's helped us further reach our goal of getting younger and he is thrilled about the opportunity to continue to improve and develop with our organization and in the city of Nashville."

Lauzon, 25 (4/28/97), was acquired from Seattle at the 2022 trade deadline and went on to skate in 13 games with the Predators, tallying one goal, a +3 rating, 48 hits and 17:06 of average ice time. The 6-foot-1, 204-pound Lauzon - who also had six points (1g-5a) in 53 games with the Kraken - dished out a career-high 224 hits during the 2021-22 regular season, the seventh-most among all NHL blueliners; his 11.52 hits per 60 minutes were also the seventh-most among League defensemen. He also blocked 63 shots, a career high, and started 63.5 percent of his shifts (all strengths) in the defensive zone, the second-best mark of his four-season NHL career. Lauzon also made his Predators postseason debut in Game 2 of their first-round series at Colorado and skated in a playoff career-high 21:34. He went on to play in two more playoff games, recording nine hits.
Originally drafted by the Boston Bruins in the second round (52nd overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft, Lauzon has appeared in 142 games with Nashville, Boston and Seattle since making his League debut during the 2018-19 season; he's also skated in 16 career Stanley Cup Playoff contests. He posted career highs in assists (7), points (8) and ice time (18:43) in 2020-21 with the Bruins, his first full NHL campaign after splitting the previous two seasons between Boston and Providence of the AHL. The Val-d'Or, Que., native spent four seasons (2013-17) with the QMJHL's Rouyn-Noranda Huskies prior to turning pro, earning the league's championship and a spot on the Second All-Star Team in 2015-16 after recording 50 points (10g-40a) in 46 games. Lauzon also took home a silver medal at the 2017 World Junior Championship, where he represented his native Canada.
