Lauzon, 24 (4/28/97), has six points (1g-5a) in 53 games with the Kraken this season after being chosen from Boston in the 2021 NHL Expansion Draft. The 6-foot-1, 204-pound Lauzon leads the Kraken and is fifth among NHL defensemen in hits with 176; he's also sixth on Seattle in blocked shots with 49, five shy of a career high. He averages the second-most shorthanded ice time among Kraken blueliners at 1:54, has started a career-high 65.4 percent of his shifts (all strengths) in the defensive zone and is logging 17:49 of TOI per game, the second-best mark of his NHL tenure.
Originally drafted by the Bruins in the second round (52nd overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft, Lauzon has appeared in 129 games with Boston and Seattle since making his League debut during the 2018-19 season; he's also skated in 13 career Stanley Cup Playoff contests, including seven in 2021. He posted career highs in assists (7), points (8), ice time (18:43) and blocked shots (53) in 2020-21 with the Bruins, his first full NHL campaign after splitting the previous two seasons between Boston and Providence of the AHL. The Val-d'Or, Que., native spent four seasons (2013-17) with the QMJHL's Rouyn-Noranda Huskies prior to turning pro, earning the league's championship and a spot on the Second All-Star Team in 2015-16 after recording 50 points (10g-40a) in 46 games. Lauzon also took home a silver medal at the 2017 World Junior Championship, where he represented his native Canada.
