During a Nashville Sports Council Luncheon held in the Lexus Lounge at Bridgestone Arena on Tuesday, the Nashville Predators announced James Neal and Roman Josi will serve as the team's alternate captains for the 2016-17 season.
Neal will serve as a Predators alternate captain for the third consecutive season; he's worn an "A" for every season he's spent in Nashville since being acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins in the summer of 2014. After serving as the third alternate captain in 2015-16, Josi will now don a letter full time this season, with Mike Fisher logging his inaugural season as the club's seventh captain.

"If we could have had three official alternates last season we would have, and Roman would have been one of them," Preds Head Coach Peter Laviolette said. "Roman's a guy that works hard in the summer and practices hard every day. He's good with his teammates. He's a great addition to the team and our leadership group; the work ethic he brings to our team is top notch. So Mike Fisher will be the captain and Roman Josi and James Neal will be the alternates."
Said Neal upon stepping into a leadership role in October of 2014:
"It's an honor," he said. "Coming here and being able to go into a leadership role is something that I've always wanted to do and I put myself in that position. It's an exciting time and I can't wait to get [the season going]."
