Rittich, 28 (8/19/92), split the 2020-21 season between Calgary and Toronto in a backup role, where he posted a 2.86 goals-against average and one shutout in 19 appearances. He served as the Flames' starting goaltender for two seasons from 2018-20, during which he recorded a combined 51-26-11 record, 2.80 goals-against average, .909 save percentage and three shutouts. Rittich's efforts in 2019-20, a season that saw him make a career-high 48 starts and win 24 games, earned him a spot in the 2020 NHL All-Star Game for the first time in his career. In 134 career NHL appearances, the 6-foot-3, 206-pound goaltender owns a 64-40-16 record, 2.82 goals-against average, .907 save percentage and four shutouts.
Undrafted, Rittich was signed by the Flames as a free agent in June 2016 and spent parts of the next two seasons with both Calgary and the AHL's Stockton Heat, where he went 22-16-4 with seven shutouts in 43 games. Before beginning his career in North America, the Jihlava, Czech Republic, native came up through the Dukla Jihlava youth system and played two professional seasons with BK Mlada Boleslav of the Czech Extraliga from 2014-16.
