Preds Complete Two-Game Trip with 2-0 Loss to Penguins

The Nashville Predators suffered a 2-0 shutout loss to Tristan Jarry and the Pittsburgh Penguins Thursday at PPG Paints Arena.
Juuse Saros made 43 saves in goal for the Predators, who moved to 37-29-8 on the season.

THE STORY

Special teams were the name of the game early as both teams went a combined 0-for-5 on the power play in the first two periods. Jason Zucker broke the ice for the Penguins late in the second, deflecting a Brian Dumoulin shot past Saros at 14:15 to give Pittsburgh a 1-0 lead.
The Predators were outshot 15-5 in the second, barely missing on a partial breakaway from Kiefer Sherwood at 10:37. Philip Tomasino nearly tied it for Nashville again with a breakaway attempt off a turnover by Kris Letang at 8:48, but was denied by Jarry.
With Cal Foote in the box after Mikael Granlund drew a roughing penalty on his former team, Jake Guentzel converted just eight seconds into the power play at 13:03 of the third for the 2-0 final.

Saros is 26-15-6 in his last 47 games dating back to Nov. 12. He's made at least 30 saves in 26 of those games, and he's faced at least 30 shots in 32 of those outings.
Saros' 43-save performance comes two days after he made 35 saves on 36 shots to shut out the Bruins through nearly 60 minutes of play until David Pastrnak scored with just over a second remaining in regulation.

"It was a tough night. To give some credit to Pittsburgh, they put some pressure on us. I just don't think we played fast enough to be able to make their D turn and then we didn't test Jarry a lot, but we did get some good looks and he had some big saves."
Barrie on looking ahead to Saturday versus St. Louis:
"We've got to move on. We're at the time of year where you can't dwell on the loss. We've got a big game and an afternoon game coming up at home in Nashville and it's a division game and it's another massive one for us. We've got to get all the points we can down the stretch, so we'll just try to have a really good start."
