Predators hockey will return soon enough, but in the meantime, casting a line could be a rewarding alternative.
The inaugural Nashville Predators Fishing Tournament, sponsored by Bass Pro Shops & Guy Harvey, will benefit the Nashville Predators Foundation and Tennessee Wildlife Resource Foundation, while providing fans a unique opportunity to cast a line and score some cash and Preds swag.
"We feel that tournament fishing is a great platform for people to be competitive as well as have fun and raise monies to support great charities," Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World General Manager Jim Osborne said. "The excitement around the Nashville Predators and their awesome 2016-17 season is a springboard to educate people on all they do for the community through their Foundation. At Bass Pro Shops, the more we can do to get people in the outdoors and give back to our communities around our stores, the more excited we get, and the partnership is a great opportunity for us to promote tournament bass fishing, charitable giving and conservation, all wrapped into one focus."

The tournament is set to take place on Saturday, Aug. 12, with a dinner to kick off the event the night before. Saturday's festivities commence at 6 a.m. CT at Shutes Branch Ramp at Old Hickory Lake on the Cumberland River. Participants are scheduled to be off the water shortly after lunchtime with a weigh-in ceremony set for 2 p.m. at Bass Pro Shops at Opry Mills with a chance to win up to $5,000 for first place.
Professional bass fishermen, as well as current and former members of the Nashville Predators will be present at the lake and a special auction will take place prior to the event with a chance to win the opportunity to fish with these celebrities.
Entry/boat fee for two-person teams is $250 and includes two tickets for a Predators preseason game this September.
