Nashville (11-14-0) began their eight-game road trip with a shootout victory in Dallas on Sunday. Rem Pitlick logged his second NHL game, and Yakov Trenin skated in a game for the first time since Feb. 20. With goaltender Juuse Saros on Injured Reserve, Pekka Rinne made his third consecutive start in net and recorded the win with 35 saves.
The Hurricanes (17-6-1) sit second in the Central Division and are undefeated in March, with two victories over the Panthers, one against the Predators and one versus the Red Wings.
Tuesday Afternoon Update: Preds Head Coach John Hynes said Saros (IR) is on the trip, has resumed skating and is making progress. Hynes also confirmed Rinne will start tonight in Carolina. Additionally, the Predators have recalled forwards Mathieu Olivier, Pitlick and defenseman Jeremy Davies from the taxi squad. Captain Roman Josi is week-to-week with an upper-body injury.
