A five-game winning streak in tow, the Nashville Predators return home to host the San Jose Sharks.
Nashville (7-1-0) topped the Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers over the weekend, but lost starting goaltender Pekka Rinne to an injury and subsequently Injured Reserve. That move clears the way for goaltender Juuse Saros to make consecutive starts for the first time in his career. The 23-year-old is 4-0-0 on the season. The Preds recalled Troy Grosenick from Milwaukee (AHL) to serve as the team's second goalie on Monday.
San Jose (4-3-1) has won two in a row. After their trade for two-time Norris Trophy winning defenseman Erik Karlsson in the offseason, the Sharks are projected to challenge the Predators as one of the Western Conference's top clubs.
The Preds held an optional morning skate on Tuesday. Below is a projected lineup based on Monday's practice:
