Eeli Tolvanen wasn't even aware he had recorded his first-career three-point night.
Nashville's rookie forward was understandably more concerned with - and thus pleased with - a 4-3 shootout win over the Dallas Stars on Sunday night to complete an eight-game road trip, but if it weren't for Tolvanen's efforts in regulation, the Predators wouldn't have even secured one point in the standings, let alone two.

Skating on Nashville's top line with Ryan Johansen and Filip Forsberg, Tolvanen assisted on his team's first two tallies - one from Johansen on the power play, the second from Forsberg at even strength - and then the 21-year-old winger rifled a shot past Dallas goaltender Anton Khudobin with fewer than six minutes to play in the final period to force overtime.
Tolvanen has garnered plenty of attention lately, and rightfully so. He now has seven goals on the season, a total that ties him for third among all NHL rookies, and four of those tallies have come with the man advantage, a category in which he leads.
But Tolvanen probably isn't aware of those rankings either. What he does know is he's helping his team, and the Predators have been better for it.

NSH@DAL: Tolvanen knots the game at 3-3 in the 3rd

"Personally, I didn't even know that I had three points, but of course it feels good," Tolvanen said following Sunday's win. "Our line was really good today. We scored three goals, so I think that's a good sign, and playing those guys, you get more pucks and you get goals and some points, so I think that's going to continue. My confidence is really high right now. I mean, I've been playing pretty good hockey lately - in the D zone doing a good job, and then today in the offense zone - and I think it was a really good game."
"He's a phenomenal young talent," Johansen said of Tolvanen. "The biggest thing that has impressed me, which I see as a teammate, and I've said this before too, is just his work ethic and his compete on the puck and all the little things that you don't notice on scoresheets. He's really committed to doing that as best as he can, and as a teammate and a linemate as of recent, it's been fun to watch him and I've really enjoyed seeing him grow."
Predators forward Calle Jarnkrok, who was named the NHL's First Star of the Week and potted the shootout winner on Sunday, has also taken note of what Tolvanen is doing on a nightly basis, and even compared him to another member of the Preds with a wicked release.
"His shot is world class, and he might have a harder shot than Fil, actually," Jarnkrok said with a grin. "He's just getting better and better, and he looks great out there."
Tolvanen continues to earn his opportunities with solid play all over the ice, a fact Preds Head Coach John Hynes has noted over the past few weeks. That growth, Hynes said, allowed Tolvanen to crack the lineup this season in the first place, and since then, the young Finn has shown he not only belongs at this level now, but he can excel too.
"I'm really proud of him tonight, and I think for a young guy, a rookie coming in… you could see even in the meeting this morning his attentive level and we talked about… having a big-game, focus level," Hynes said of Tolvanen following Sunday's win. "He was really engaged all day long, and I think that's really good to see for a young guy on the team. He took some things to heart, he didn't play a great game [Saturday in Florida, but] came back, had a rebound game and it's good to see that he gets rewarded for the work ethic and commitment that he's been playing with."
Like Tolvanen, success on the road has allowed the team's confidence to increase as well. The Predators know there is still plenty of work ahead if they're to find themselves among the top four clubs in the Central Division, but after the past few contests, they're very much in the conversation.
Tolvanen has plenty to do with that, even if he may not be fully aware of his contributions.
"Those four wins were really big for us, and a lot of new faces did a really good job," Tolvanen said of the trip. "It was just the mindset going into the trip that if you can figure out battling against these big teams, we're going to show that we're a really good team. Even though we have some injuries, we did a really good job with the young guys stepping up."

Jarnkrok Ties Predators Record, Named First Star of the Week:

Much like Tolvanen, Calle Jarnkrok had plenty to do with Nashville's success over the past 16 days.
Thursday in Florida, Jarnkrok scored both the game-tying and winning goal as the Predators rallied to defeat the Panthers with a 2-1 victory. With his performance that night, Jarnkrok had factored on seven-straight team goals since March 13, a mark that tied him with David Legwand (2g-5a in 2011-12) and Yanic Perreault (7a in 2005-06) for the longest such run in franchise history.

Then, as the Preds returned home for the first time since March 6,
Jarnkrok received First Star of the Week honors from the NHL
for the first time in his career with three goals and six points in four games over the past seven days.
"We might as well end it as we started it," Jarnkrok said of the eight-game trip after finishing it with the shootout-winner in Dallas on Sunday night. "It was a gutsy win tonight. We know that Dallas is a big, strong team, and it was a good job coming back in that game. It's nice to get the two points and get out of here."

Undie Sunday Drive Taking Place This Week:

This month, the Nashville Predators Foundation empowered by SmileDirectClub has teamed up with Nashville Rescue Mission and JOCKEY to transform average Sundays into Undie Sundays.
On March 28, the final Sunday of the month, a virtual underwear drive will take place, allowing fans to support Nashville's homeless community by purchasing new bras and underwear from the Amazon Wish List provided by Nashville Rescue Mission.
If fans have new items ready for donation, there will be additional in-person drives at both Ford Ice Centers. From now through Sunday, March 28, unopened packages of bras and underwear will be collected at Ford Ice Center Antioch and Bellevue.
For every item collected during these drives, JOCKEY will match each donation with one of their own, doubling the impact of the initiative.

This initiative, benefiting Nashville Rescue Mission, emphasizes the organization's core values as a Christ-centered community committed to helping the hungry, homeless and hurting by providing programs and services that focus on a person's well-being. Through the Undie Sunday drives, Predators fans and members of the Nashville community can come together to help those in need of basic necessities.
If you would like to donate to the drive by purchasing bras or underwear, visit the Amazon Wish List or bring your donations to a COVID-safe drop-off at one of the Ford Ice Center locations from March 21-28. Together, we can make a difference in our community.

Chicago Wolves Update:

With the Milwaukee Admirals electing to sit out the 2020-21 season in the AHL, the Predators are utilizing an agreement with the Carolina Hurricanes and the Chicago Wolves to serve as Nashville's AHL affiliate this season.
Predators prospects Tanner Jeannot, Anthony Richard, Sean Malone, Cole Smith, Tommy Novak, Tyler Lewington, Lukas Craggs, Patrick Harper and Philip Tomasino are currently on the Chicago roster, and many are making impact as the season continues.
The Wolves have seen their last two games - scheduled against Grand Rapids - postponed by the AHL due to COVID-19 protocols. Jeannot (5g-8a) and Novak (3g-10a) share the team lead in scoring with 13 points apiece, followed by Tomasino (5g-6a) with 11 points. Forward Rem Pitlick, plus defensemen Jeremy Davies and Frederic Allard, are all with the Predators at the moment, but they are also near the top of the point totals for the Wolves this season.
The Central Division-leading Wolves are scheduled to return to the ice at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday when they host the Rockford IceHogs at the Wolves Training Facility in Hoffman Estates.

Quote of the Week:

Preds center Ryan Johansen on young players stepping up to help the team to a 4-3-1 record to finish their eight-game road trip:
"It says a lot. We're missing a lot of key players, and for all these young guys to step up and compete the way they have and be difference-makers in games, not just working hard - it's been a lot of fun on this trip and fun to watch them. This was a make-or-break trip for us. We had to find a way to get points and win some games, and then we did that, and we're in a position where we have 24 games left, and if we can keep taking strides forward, we'll put ourselves in a good position at the end of this season. I'm really proud of our group."
