Stars vs. Preds, Round 1, Game 2: What You Need to Know

The Nashville Predators have a chance to even their series against the Dallas Stars when they face off in Game 2 presented by Nissan at Bridgestone Arena.
It was a 3-2 result in favor of the visitors in Game 1 on Wednesday night in Nashville, a contest that saw the Preds take a 1-0 lead, only to surrender the next three. As soon as Game 1 was over, the Predators stated Dallas was simply quicker than they were through the second and third periods, with Nashville unable to replicate their success from the opening frame.
Both clubs have now had two days to review the good and the bad from the first outing, and after video sessions on both days and an on-ice practice on Friday, the Predators are feeling good once more heading into Game 2.

"We had a really good practice today, good pace, good tempo and I think everyone knows what we need to do better in order to beat them," Preds defenseman Mattias Ekholm said Friday afternoon. "We have a big game [today] and that's all we're focusing on right now."
By the look of Friday's practice participants, it appears the Preds will stick with the same lineup in Game 2 as was seen in Game 1. That includes Wayne Simmonds, Brian Boyle and Calle Jarnkrok making up Nashville's fourth line and Dan Hamhuis and Dante Fabbro on the third defensive pairing.

Last Time Out:
Roman Josi and P.K. Subban tallied for the Preds in Game 1, while Pekka Rinne stopped 26 shots in net. Fabbro made his Stanley Cup Playoff debut for Nashville, while Mikael Granlund, Boyle and Simmonds all appeared in their first postseason contests as members of the Predators.
Boyle, Nick Bonino, Ryan Ellis and Mattias Ekholm all collected assists in Game 1 and are tied with Subban and Josi with one point apiece in the playoffs.

The Opposition:
Miro Heiskanen, Alexander Radulov and Mats Zuccarello all scored for the Stars in Game 1 with Heiskanen's coming in his postseason debut. He also added an assist on the night; Ben Lovejoy, Jamie Benn and John Klingberg also recorded one helper each. Ben Bishop got the win in net stopping 30 of 32 Nashville shots.

Preds vs. Stars Series Notes:
The Preds are 30-24 all-time in playoff games at Bridgestone Arena. Nashville moved to 9-10 all-time in Game 1, including 3-4 at home. Nashville is 7-11 all-time in Game 2, including 4-2 at home.
Josi's tally in Game 1 was his ninth career playoff goal, the second-most in Preds history by a defenseman and tied for the eighth-most overall. Josi also moved into sole possession of third place on the team's all-time playoff points list with 29 (9g-20a).
Subban's goal was his seventh in the postseason with the Predators and 18th of his playoff career. Subban now is fourth among active defensemen in career playoff points (60) and tied for fourth in goals (18).
