Junior Rangers Recreational Camp

The New York Rangers Recreational Youth Hockey Camp is a drop-off/pick up camp which operates Monday - Friday from 8AM - 5PM at each scheduled location. This camp is designed as a development opportunity for kids that offers families a convenient recreational option for children with a Learn to Play or Recreational/House League experience, while maintaining a gold standard experience. This camp is designed specifically for children who play recreational level hockey.

Junior Rangers Youth Hockey Camp x TopLine Hockey

MSG Training Center

The Junior Rangers Elite Hockey Camp, in partnership with TopLine Hockey, is designed for advanced players seeking to elevate their game. This camp provides elite-level training tailored to highly skilled participants, offering a unique opportunity to develop under the guidance of TopLine Hockey’s expert instructors alongside New York Rangers Alumni. With a focus on advanced techniques, high-intensity drills, and game situational strategies, the camp prepares players to excel at the highest levels. The program combines on- and off-ice instruction, ensuring participants refine their skills, enhance their hockey IQ, and gain a competitive edge.

Our daily schedule includes:

On-Ice Sessions

Each day consists of 2 on-ice sessions per day for all players. One hour and fifteen minuets in the morning and one hour and fifteen minuets in the afternoon. Sessions are designed in partnership with USA Hockey to help increase the number of touches on the puck and promote greater skill development. All practices will progress throughout each week from skating skills to a heavier focus on puck skills and drills.

Off-Ice Skill Sessions

Players will be challenged daily off the ice to help develop individual stick skills, shooting techniques and more.

Recreation

To help players take their mind off of the game while still developing necessary motor skills that will help them on the ice, instructors will lead players through a number of different sports throughout the week including spikeball, whiffle ball, and soccer!

Strength & Conditioning

Age-appropriate training throughout the week will help players with their agility, balance, coordination and speed. These off-ice sessions will follow the American Development Model for all of our respective age groups. More information on ADM can be found by clicking here.

Classroom Sessions

All groups will be taken through a host of different interactive topics each week reviewing on-ice and off-ice lessons as well as nutritional topics.

Lunch

Families may provide their own lunch. Food may be purchased at each facility. Please see each specific registration link and location for more information on lunch options. If you are bringing your lunch we ask to be mindful of any common allergens amongst children (ex: nuts)

Our Junior Rangers Youth Hockey Development Staff is focused on delivering the best camp experience for your child. By maintaining a 6:1 camper to instructor ratio we ensure all players are challenged and growing regardless of age and ability. All of the sessions are led by Junior Rangers Development Staff under the leadership of Adam Graves.
 

Meet the Staff

All staff will play an integral role in the teaching of the game and will be utilized in a variety of teaching situations both on and off the ice. The New York Rangers Youth Hockey Camp staff features personal instruction by the Hockey Development Team and Rangers alumni- all working to help young athletes improve their skills and develop their talent. Staff includes Brian Mullen and Adam Graves, with more to be announced soon

Scholarships

The Junior Rangers will provide families with access to full and partial scholarships for a variety of youth hockey programs based on financial need.

Can I register my children more than once for the program?

Yes - children can participate in all scheduled weeks pending on availability.

What is the current refund policy?

a. A refund will be provided per request if the New York Rangers or its partner facilities must cancel the sessions for any reason and can't make up the sessions. The refund will be based on the number of sessions completed.

b. A refund will be provided per request minus a $50 transaction fee due to participant injury or illness. The participants parent/guardian must provide a doctor's note in order to receive a refund.

c. The Rangers do not provide refund or make up sessions due to missed sessions that don't fall under the above circumstances.

d. Program credits are also an option if your situation falls under provisions 1 & 2.

e. All refund requests prior to the start of your program must be submitted by June 1st, 2025. Any refunds beyond this date will only be accepted due to injury or illness with proper documentation from a doctor.

How many hours of ice time will my child receive at Junior Rangers Youth Hockey Camp?

Your child will have a total of 2 ½ hours of ice time per day. One hour and fifteen minutes in the morning and one hour and fifteen minutes in the afternoon.

What is the daily camp schedule like?

The daily schedule typically includes:

  • On-ice sessions in the morning and afternoon
  • Off-ice conditioning or team-building activities
  • Skill-specific drills and small-area games
  • Breaks for snacks and hydration
  • A detailed schedule will be provided to registered players before the camp begins
What is the coach to student ratio?

Our Junior Rangers Youth Hockey Development Staff is focused on delivering the best camp experience for your child. By maintaining a 8:1 camper to instructor ratio we ensure all players are challenged and growing regardless of age and ability. All of the Junior Rangers Recreational sessions are led by Junior Rangers Development Staff under the leadership of Adam Graves. All Junior Rangers Elite sessions will be run in partnership with TopLine coaches and the Rangers Development Staff.

Are there next step programs available when my child is ready to participate in the fall?

Yes! We have next-step programs available. Please visit our website for more information on our programs: Junior Rangers Rookie League and Girls Hockey Programs. If you don't see a program location available near you or for your child's age range, please contact us at Junior.Rangers@msg.com and we will do our best to find a next step program in your area. In addition to NYR programming, we partner with over 60 youth hockey associations across the tri-state.

Does my child need to know how to skate before they sign up for Junior Rangers Youth Hockey Camp?

For our Junior Rangers Recreational Camp, players must possess basic hockey skills such as skating and stick handling. Completion of a Learn to Play program is the minimum to participate. Recreational Camp instructors will focus on developing the skills of beginner level players, while improving those of intermediate-advanced level players by utilizing station based training methods.

  • Junior Rangers Elite Camp must have at least one year of AA or AAA competitive travel experience in order to participate. The Rangers will evaluate talent accordingly.
    • Please ensure you are registering for the correct camp so we can ensure no spots are taken away from an eligible participant.
How much does Junior Rangers Youth Hockey Camp cost?
  • Recreational Camp at MSG Training Center - $1,000 (5-Day Camp)
  • Elite Hockey Camp – $500 (2-Day Camp)
What equipment is included/required for the program?

Included in the registration, all participants will receive (1) Junior Rangers jersey and (1) performance t-shirt per registration. Participants will be required to bring their own gear including: a helmet with cage, shoulder pads, elbow pads, hockey pants, shin guards, hockey skates, a hockey stick, socks, neck guard and an equipment bag. . We also recommend a mouth guard and athletic supporter for all participants. All equipment is required to be worn during each on-ice session. For off-ice programming, participants should wear summer appropriate clothing (ex. Shorts, t-shirt, sneakers). We also recommend each participant bring their own water bottle. We strongly encourage participants to bring a change of clothes for on and off-ice programming and to check the weather ahead of each day.

What time should I arrive at the arena?

You should arrive a minimum of 30 minutes prior to start time for your first activity to provide enough time for your child to check-in and get settled before starting the program.

I want to register my child for Youth Hockey Camp but it is sold out, is there a waiting list?

Yes. In the event that the session that you are attempting to register for is sold out, please complete registration and you will automatically be added to a waiting list. Your card will not be charged and you will be contacted should a spot become available.

What happens if my child experiences a medical emergency?

We will have an athletic trainer on staff full time during each day of summer camp. In the case of an emergency, we will take the necessary precautions as well as notifying the parents immediately.

Is there a Pro Shop on site?

There will not be a pro-shop available at the MSG Training Center. Any satellite locations will have pro-shops available.

What supervision is provided at the hockey camp?

We have an awesome group of staff that will provide individual attention to all of our campers. We will have camp directors on site as well that will be available to address any questions or concerns. Please reach out to Junior.Rangers@msg.com if you'd like to discuss further.

Can parents and guest stay and watch camp?

Parents and guests are welcomed to stay and observe at our satellite camps unless the facility guidelines state otherwise. We also request that you refrain from trying to enter the dressing rooms or surrounding hallways unless otherwise specified. No parents and/or guests are allowed to stay at the MSG Training Center.

Do the Rangers provide transportation to camp?

No, all parents are responsible for providing their own transportation to and from the rink. The Rangers will request who is picking up your child at the end of the day. The Rangers will not release children home unless the adult picking up matches the name given at check in. The Rangers staff will be checking identification to ensure all children go home with the correct contact.

What if my child has allergies or medical conditions?

Please indicate any allergies or medical conditions during registration. Our EMT’s and staff will be informed and prepared to accommodate any needs. Make sure to include emergency contact information as well.

What should my child bring for off-ice activities?

For off-ice training sessions, your child should wear athletic clothing and running shoes. They should also bring any personal items such as sunscreen, a hat, and water bottle if necessary.

Will there be any special accommodations for my child?

If your child requires special accommodations (e.g., for medical reasons, dietary needs, or learning preferences), please provide details during registration, and we will do our best to make the necessary arrangements.
