  • KILL ZONE -The Blueshirts were 5-for-5 (8:17) on the penalty kill in tonight's game and held Boston to six shots on goal over the Bruins' five power play opportunities. The Rangers have not allowed a power play goal in four of the last five games (20-for-22; 90.9% over the span).
  • ONE AND WON -Four of the Rangers' last six games, eight of their last 14 games, 10 of their last 18 games, and 24 of their 48 games this season have been decided by one goal. The Rangers have posted a 13-4-7 record in one-goal games in 2018-19, and as of the conclusion of tonight's game, the Blueshirts are tied for third in the NHL in wins in one-goal games this season.
  • RESILIENT RANGERS -For the 11th time this season, and for the second consecutive game, the Blueshirts won a game when allowing the first goal. As of the conclusion of tonight's game, New York is tied for fifth in the NHL in wins when allowing the first goal this season.

  • SOMETHIN' BRUIN -The Rangers have played more regular season games (647) and have earned more regular season wins (258) against the Bruins than against any other opponent in their 92-season history. The Blueshirts have earned a win in eight of their last nine games against Boston, dating back to Jan. 11, 2016 (8-1-0 record over the span). In addition, the Rangers have won four consecutive road games against the Bruins, dating back to Nov. 5, 2016. Since Mar. 24, 2007, 27 of the 40 meetings between the Rangers and Bruins have been decided by one goal, and 33 of those 40 meetings over the span have been decided by two or fewer goals.

  • Mika Zibanejadtallied two goals, including the game-winning goal on a power play, led all skaters with three takeaways, and registered two shots on goal in 20:18 of ice time. He was selected as the game's First Star. Zibanejad has registered the game-winning goal in each of the last three games. According to NHL Stats & Information, Zibanejad is only the second Ranger in franchise history who has registered the game-winning goal in three consecutive team games (the first was Rod Gilbert, who did so on Dec. 11, 1966 vs. Montreal, Dec. 14, 1966 vs. Detroit, and Dec. 17, 1966 at Toronto). He extended his goal streak to three games (five goals in those three games) and his point streak to five games (five goals, four assists). Zibanejad has also posted a multi-goal game in two of the last three contests. In addition, Zibanejad has tallied 25 points (10 goals, 15 assists) over the last 24 games. He leads the Rangers in points this season (44; 17 goals, 27 assists).
  • Mats Zuccarellonotched two assists, including a power play assist on the game-winning goal, tied for the team-high with three shots on goal, and posted a plus-one rating in 21:06 of ice time. He was selected as the game's Third Star tonight. Zuccarello extended his point streak to five games (four goals, five assists). In addition, he has tallied a point in six of the last seven games, recording 10 points (four goals, six assists) in those seven games, and he has also registered 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in 18 games since returning to the Rangers' lineup on Dec. 14 vs. Arizona following an injury. Zuccarello tallied his 228th career assist as a Ranger in tonight's game, passing Adam Graves for sole possession of 20th place on the franchise's all-time assists list.
  • Henrik Lundqvistmade 27 saves, including 12 in the third period, to earn his third consecutive win, his 15th win of the 2018-19 season, and the 446th win of his NHL career. By earning a win in tonight's game, Lundqvist passed Hall of Famer Terry Sawchuk for sole possession of sixth place on the NHL's all-time wins list. Lundqvist is also the first goaltender in NHL history who has earned at least 15 wins in each of his first 14 NHL seasons (2005-06 - 2018-19). Lundqvist has posted a .900 SV% or better in 24 of his 35 appearances in 2018-19, including a .925 SV% or better in 16 of those games. He also made his 840th career regular season appearance as a Ranger in tonight's contest; he is one appearance away from tying Vic Hadfield for the seventh-most regular season appearances by a player with the Blueshirts (skaters and goaltenders included) in franchise history.

Blueshirt Breakdown

  • Filip Chytilrecorded a goal, tied for the team-high with three shots on goal, and posted a plus-one rating. According to NHL Stats & Information, Chytil is the third player in franchise history who has registered 10 or more goals as a teenager (along with Mike Allison and Alexei Kovalev; Chytil tallied one goal in 2017-18 and has recorded nine goals in 2018-19). Since Nov. 12 (when Chytil began a five-game goal streak), he is tied for second among NHL rookies in goals (nine) and is tied for fourth among NHL rookies in points (15). He has recorded a goal in each of the last two games and has recorded a point in five of the last six games (three goals, two assists over the last six games). In addition, since the first game of the five-game goal streak he began on Nov. 12, Chytil has registered a point in 15 of his last 30 games (nine goals, six assists over those 30 games).
  • Kevin Shattenkirktallied a power play assist on the game-winning goal and registered two shots on goal in 18:52 of ice time. He has recorded an assist/point in three of the last four games (three assists). In addition, Shattenkirk has registered a point in four of the last six games (one goal, three assists) and in six of the last 11 contests (one goal, five assists). Shattenkirk ranks second among Rangers defensemen in assists (12) and is tied for second among Rangers defensemen in points (14) in 2018-19.
  • Brady Skjeiregistered an assist in 22:06 of ice time. He leads Rangers defensemen in even strength assists (10) and even strength points (13) this season.
  • Marc Staaltied for the team-high with three shots on goal while skating in a game-high 25:02 of ice time.*Staal skated in his 809th career game as a Ranger in tonight's contest; he is now two games away from tying Jim Neilson for ninth place on the Rangers' all-time games played list (among skaters). He is also two games away from tying Neilson for the fourth-most games played by a defenseman in franchise history; the only defensemen who have played more games with the Rangers than Staal has are Harry Howell (1,160), Brian Leetch (1,129), Ron Greschner (981), and Neilson (811). Staal is one of three Rangers who have played in all of the team's first 48 games this season (along with Chris Kreider and Mika Zibanejad). Staal has logged at least 20:00 of ice time in 18 of the last 25 games.
  • Adam McQuaid*led all skaters with three blocked shots and was credited with a team-high four hits in 17:28 of ice time.
