Both Rangers 2017 first-round picks,Lias Andersson and Filip Chytil, have been named to their respective preliminary rosters for the 2018 World Junior Championship tournament that begins Dec. 26 in Buffalo.
Andersson leads a high-powered Swedish roster looking to improve on its fourth-place finish at last year's tournament. The seventh overall pick from last year's draft is having his best season in the Swedish Hockey League thus far with Frolunda, where he has seven goals and six assists for 13 points in just 20 games. His previous career-highs came last year when he had nine goals and 10 assists for 19 points in 42 games with HV71.
The 19-year-old had three goals in seven games for Sweden in last year's tournament. He represented Sweden at the 2016 U18 competition where he had five goals and nine points in seven contests.

Chytil, meanwhile, is expected to represent the Czech Republic at the World Juniors for the first time. The 18-year-old is having a strong first season as a pro in North America with five goals and seven assists for 12 points in 15 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.
Last year, Chytil registered two goals and three assists for five points in five games for the Czechs at the U18 tournament.
Ty Ronning scored his 27th goal of the year as Vancouver topped Portland, 5-3, in the Western Hockey League Monday night. Ronning has 21 goals since Oct. 20, a span of 20 games, and is four shy of his career-best of 31 that he set in 2015-16.
Goaltender Adam Huska made 26 saves in an 8-2 UConn victory over Massachusetts to earn his seventh victory of the season for the Huskies. After a slow start, Huska is now 7-10-2 with a 2.60 GAA and a .911 SV % in his sophomore season.
