Rangers vs. Oilers 11.3.16: Postgame Notes

- GREAT EIGHT- The Rangers have recorded at least eight wins in the first 11 games of a season for the fifth time in their 90-season history (1983-84, 1988-89, 1990-91, 2008-09, and 2016-17). New York's eight wins through the first 11 games in 2016-17 are tied for the second-most wins in the first 11 games of one season in franchise history.
- MAKING THE DIFFERENCE - The Rangers are tied for the NHL lead in goal differential this season (plus-20; 45 goals for, 25 goals against). The Rangers' plus-20 goal differential through 11 games this season is the best through the first 11 games of any season in franchise history. New York has posted a plus-12 goal differential over the last three games (16-4).
- HOME COOKING - New York extended its home winning streak to five games, dating back to Oct. 23 vs. Arizona. The Rangers have posted a 7-1-0 record at home this season and have outscored opponents, 37-17, in their first eight games at MSG in 2016-17. The Blueshirts have earned at least one point in 68 of their last 88 home games, dating back to Oct. 16, 2014 (59-20-9 record). In addition, the Rangers have posted a 34-11-4 record at MSG since the start of last season. Since the start of the 2015-16 season, the Rangers lead the NHL in wins (34), goals for (167), and goals per game (3.41) at home. The last time the Rangers earned at least seven wins in their first eight home games of one season was 1990-91 (eight consecutive home wins to begin the season). The Rangers have outscored their opponents, 21-4, over their last 11 periods at MSG, dating back to the start of the second period on Oct. 26 vs. Boston.
- WHAT A LINE - The Michael Grabner-Kevin Hayes-J.T. Miller line combined for seven points (three goals, four assists) in tonight's game, as each of the three players tallied a goal and registered at least two points. Over the last three games, the trio has notched 18 points (eight goals, 10 assists).
- THREE'S COMPANY - The Rangers extended their overall winning streak to three games (Oct. 30 vs. Tampa Bay, Nov. 1 vs. St. Louis, and tonight vs. Edmonton). New York has posted two separate three-game winning streaks through the first 11 games this season (also from Oct. 22 at Washington to Oct. 26 vs. Boston).
- TEAM EFFORT - Through the first 11 games of the season, 13 different Rangers have registered at least one goal.
- SECOND HELPING - The Rangers have posted a plus-14 goal differential in the second period this season (20-6).
- NOVEMBER REIGN - Since the start of the 2005-06 season, the Rangers lead the NHL in wins during November (85; 85-46-9 record in 140 games during the month).
Three Stars on Broadway
- Kevin Hayesrecorded three points (one goal, two assists), and posted a plus-two rating in tonight's game. Hayes extended his point streak to three games (two goals, five assists). In addition, he has registered seven points (three goals, four assists) and has posted a plus-seven rating over the last five games.
- Michael Grabner tallied two points (one goal, one assist), led all skaters with three takeaways, recorded four shots on goal, and posted a plus-three rating. He has recorded eight points (six goals, two assists) in eight games at MSG this season. Grabner is tied for the team lead in goals in 2016-17 (six). Over the last three games, he has registered five points (four goals, one assists) and has posted a plus-seven rating.
- J.T. Millernotched two points (one goal, one assist), recorded four shots on goal, was credited with two takeaways, and posted a plus-three rating. Miller extended his assist/point streak to three games (two goals, three assists), tying career-highs for both streaks. He has tallied a point in six of the last seven games (three goals, seven assists), and in eight of 11 games this season (four goals, eight assists). Miller has recorded a point in each of the Rangers' eight wins this season, and the team has posted an 8-0-0 record in games which has tallied a point in 2016-17. He leads the Rangers in points in 2016-17 (12).
Blueshirt Breakdown
- Rick Nash registered the game-winning goal, which was his 399th career NHL goal, led all skaters with five shots on goal, and posted a plus-two rating. Nash extended his goal/point streak to three games (three goals, one assist). In addition, Nash has recorded a goal/point in four of the last five games and in six of 11 games this season, and the Rangers have posted a 6-0-0 record in games which he has tallied a goal/point this season. Nash is tied for the team lead in goals in 2016-17 (six).
- Jesper Fasttallied a goal, was tied for the game-high with four hits, and registered three shots on goal. He has recorded a point in five of 11 games this season (one goal, four assists).
- Brady Skjeiregistered two assists, tallying his first career NHL multi-assist/point game, and posted a plus-one rating. Skjei is the first Rangers rookie defenseman to post a multi-assist/point game since Stu Bickel on Dec. 23, 2011 vs. Philadelphia. He extended his assist/point streak to three games (four assists), and he has tallied five assists/points in the last six games.
- Nick Holden tied single-game career-highs with two assists and two points, was credited with three hits, and posted a plus-two rating in tonight's contest. Holden leads the Rangers in plus/minus rating this season (plus-10), and he has posted a plus/minus rating of even or better in each of the Rangers' 11 games in 2016-17.
- Brandon Pirri tallied an assist, won six of 10 faceoffs (60%), and recorded three shots on goal. He has registered five points (three goals, two assists) in the last seven games.
- Derek Stepan recorded an assist in 18:57 of ice time. He has registered seven assists/points in the last nine games.
