*In December of 1955, NHL teams switched from wearing color jerseys on the road to wearing them at home for the remainder of the 1955-56 season.

Prior to the 1958-59 season, the Rangers added jersey numbers to the sleeves of their jerseys for the first time in franchise history.

The Rangers added names to the back of their white jerseys when they became their home jerseys in 1970-71.

The Rangers had names added to the back of their blue road jerseys for Game 7 of the Semifinals in 1974 at Philadelphia.

The Rangers wore a patch on their jersey for the 1975-76 season to honor their 50th Anniversary.

- NHL 75TH ANNIVERSARY JERSEY

The Rangers wore a patch on their home, road, and alternate/throwback jersey in 1991-92 for the NHL’s 75th Anniversary, a patch on their home and road jersey for the 100th Anniversary of the Stanley Cup in 1992-93, and a patch on their road jersey in 1993-94 for the 1994 NHL All-Star Game, which was held at MSG.

For the second half of the 1991-92 season, NHL teams wore their home uniforms on the road and their road uniforms at home as part of the league’s 75th Anniversary Celebration.

Beginning with the 1990-91 season, the names on the back of jerseys were arched instead of straight across.

The Rangers wore a patch on all of their jerseys during the 1999-00 season, signifying the 1999-00 season.

The Rangers wore a special patch on all of their jerseys in 2000-01 to recognize their 75th Anniversary.

The Rangers wore a special ribbon on all of their jerseys during the 2001-02 season following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

The Rangers wore a special patch on their jersey when the organization retired Mark Messier’s jersey No. 11 on January 12, 2006.

COMMEMORATIVE 9/11 JERSEY

On October 7, 2001, the Rangers played their first regular season home game following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The Rangers and their opponent, the Buffalo Sabres, wore commemorative jerseys with “New York” on the front.

The Rangers, along with several NHL teams, wore vintage jerseys for select games during the 2003-04 season. The Rangers, whose vintage jerseys were based off of the jerseys they wore for the 1976-77 and 1977-78 seasons, wore these jerseys for five games in 2003-04 (blue jersey for three games and white jersey for two games).

The Rangers wore a special patch on all of their jerseys in 2010-11 to recognize their 85th Anniversary. The Rangers wore a special patch on all of their jerseys in 2016-17 to recognize their 90th Season.

The Rangers wore a special patch on their jersey when the organization retired Brian Leetch’s jersey No. 2 on January 24, 2008, Adam Graves’ jersey No. 9 on February 3, 2009, and Harry Howell’s jersey No. 3 and Andy Bathgate’s jersey No. 9 on February 22, 2009.

The Rangers wore a special patch when they opened the 2008-09 regular season in Prague, Czech Republic and when they opened the 2011-12 regular season in Stockholm, Sweden.
