DETROIT - The Detroit Red Wings today assigned defenseman Jordan Sambrook to the Ontario Hockey League's Erie Otters and released six players from tryout agreements, who will all return to their respective major junior teams: forwards Justin Brazeau, Luke Coleman and Jeff de Wit; defenseman Dylan Coghlan; and goaltenders Stephen Dhillon and Connor Hicks.
The Red Wings' roster stands at 56 players - with another six World Cup of Hockey participants slated to rejoin the team early this week - as training camp wraps up with tomorrow's Red & White Game at 12 p.m. at Centre Ice Arena in Traverse City, Mich. Detroit's preseason schedule begins on Tuesday, Sept. 27 when the Red Wings welcome the defending Stanley Cup-champion Pittsburgh Penguins to Joe Louis Arena.
