Timashov has spent his first NHL campaign with Toronto, totaling nine points (4-5-9), a plus-one rating, 16 penalty minutes and 34 shots on goal in 8:06 average time in ice in 39 games. The 23-year-old made his NHL debut on Oct. 2 vs. Ottawa and picked up his first NHL assist and went on to add his first multi-point game (0-2-2) in his third career NHL game on Oct. 12 at Detroit. Timashov spent the previous three seasons with the American Hockey League's Toronto Marlies, totaling 107 points (38-69-107) and 117 penalty minutes from 2016-19. He helped the Marlies win a Calder Cup championship in 2017-18, posting 12 points (6-6-12) in 20 postseason games as a second-year pro. In 2018-19, Timashov posted a professional career-best 49 points (14-35-49) in 72 games with the Marlies to rank third on the team.
Originally drafted in the fifth round (125th overall) of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, Timashov produced above a point-per-game pace in his junior career, racking up 175 points (41-134-175), a plus-44 rating and 133 penalty minutes in 123 games with the Quebec Remparts and Shawinigan Cataractes from 2014-16. The 5-foot-10, 192-pound winger led all QMJHL rookies in assists (71) and points (90) in 2014-15 and was named to the QMJHL All-Rookie Team, in addition to winning the league's Rookie of the Year Award. A native of Kirovograd, Ukraine, Timashov spent his development years in Sweden, making his professional debut in 2013-14 when he skated in three games with MODO in the Swedish Hockey League and 10 games between Mora IK and IF Bjorkloven in the second-tier Allsvenskan. He represented Sweden at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship and tied for third on the team with seven points (2-5-7) in seven games.
