Hronek, 25, skated in 60 games with the Red Wings this season and ranks among the team leaders with nine goals (8th), 29 assists (2nd), 38 points (T2nd), a plus-eight rating (2nd), 34 penalty minutes (4th), four power play goals (T4th), 16 power play points (T2nd), 122 shots (4th) and 21:32 average time on ice (2nd). Originally selected by Detroit in the second round (53rd overall) of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, Hronek recorded 156 points (30-126-156) and 162 penalty minutes in 305 games with the Red Wings since 2018-19. The Hradec Kralove, Czech Republic, native began the 2020-21 campaign with his hometown club in the Czech Extraliga, notching 23 points (10-13-23) and 18 penalty minutes in 22 games. Hronek previously spent parts of three seasons with the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins, racking up 65 points (19-46-65), a plus-25 rating and 93 penalty minutes in 108 games with the team from 2016-19. He earned a spot on the 2018 AHL All-Rookie Team in his first full AHL campaign. Prior to turning professional in North America, Hronek spent one season with the Ontario Hockey League's Saginaw Spirit, where he was named an OHL Third-Team All-Star after tallying 61 points (14-47-61) in 59 contests. On the international stage, Hronek has represented his country at each of the last four IIHF World Championships, tallying 20 points (5-15-20) in 35 games. He won a bronze medal with the Czechs in 2022 and was named Best Defenseman at the 2019 tournament after leading all blueliners with 11 points (3-8-11) in 10 appearances. Hronek also competed in back-to-back IIHF World Junior Championships in 2016 and 2017, collecting six points (2-4-6) in 10 games.
