DETROIT -The Detroit Red Wings today announced details surrounding the team's regular-season Home Opener on Monday, Oct. 17, against the Ottawa Senators at 7:30 p.m. at Joe Louis Arena.
To launch the celebration for the Home Opener, the Red Wings will hold their first-ever Chevrolet Season Premiere, in which the Red Wings players will walk a red carpet to enter The Joe prior to the game, giving fans a unique opportunity to cheer on the team up close. Additionally, the Home Opener will feature the unveiling of the Red Wings Walk of Fame and the debut of the Gordie Howe "9" jersey patch on the red home jerseys. Fans in attendance at the Home Opener will also have the opportunity to purchase "Farewell Season at The Joe" merchandise and Dual-Logo Warmup Pucks, collect exciting giveaways and much more.

CHEVROLET SEASON PREMIERE
Red Wings fans will have an opportunity to cheer on Red Wings players as they walk down a red carpet prior to the Home Opener for the first-ever Chevrolet Season Premiere. The event will take place from 4:30 - 5:15 p.m. near the East Entrance to Joe Louis Arena along Steve Yzerman Drive facing the Detroit RiverWalk.
All Red Wings players will arrive via Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban and Silverado vehicles to the East Entrance of The Joe where they will be introduced by public address announcer Erich Freiny. The players will then walk the red carpet and enter The Joe through the Zamboni Entrance. Red Wings fans will be encouraged to line the red carpet to cheer on the team as they embark on the 2016-17 campaign.
The Chevrolet Season Premiere is free and open to the public. Fans are encouraged to arrive early to secure a spot along the red carpet. All parking lots surrounding Joe Louis Arena will open at 1:00 p.m. and the doors to The Joe will open at 5:30 p.m. - two hours in advance of the Home Opener - to accommodate fans who arrive early for the red carpet event.
RED WINGS WALK OF FAME UNVEILED
Similar to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Red Wings will debut their own Walk of Fame to honor past and present Red Wings legends who dazzled on the ice and the entertainers who brought world-class acts and performances to The Joe.
More than 40 winged wheels will be installed on the Joe Louis Arena concourse to recognize past and present Red Wings greats, coaches and front-office executives. Additionally, 20 entertainers will be recognized with the "Farewell Season at The Joe" logo to recognize the iconic performances that took place at The Joe.
The Red Wings Walk of Fame can be found between Sections 103-104 and Sections 125-126 on the Joe Louis Arena concourse. Fans are encouraged to take pictures on the Walk of Fame and share to social media using the hashtag #Farewell2TheJoe.
DUAL-LOGO WARMUP PUCKS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE
The Home Opener will be the first in a series of games this season in which the pucks used by both teams during warmups will be available for purchase. The Red Wings logo and the logo of the opposing team will be featured on the puck. The pucks will be protected in a display cube featuring the "Farewell Season at The Joe" logo. Warmup pucks will be available for $30 on the Joe Louis Arena concourse outside Sections 104 and 108 following warm-ups on a first-come, first-served basis. "FAREWELL SEASON AT THE JOE" MERCHANDISE AVAILABLE
Red Wings fans can commemorate their final trips to Joe Louis Arena by purchasing limited-edition "Farewell Season at The Joe" merchandise at the Home Opener. T-shirts, hats, pucks, blankets, glassware, banners, pins and key chains will all be available featuring the "Farewell Season at The Joe" logo.
GORDIE HOWE "9" JERSEY PATCH
The Home Opener will also mark the first time the Red Wings will wear a commemorative "9" patch on their red home jerseys in honor of "Mr. Hockey" Gordie Howe, who passed away in June at the age of 88. The Red Wings will wear the commemorative patch for the duration of the 2016-17 season above the logo on the front of the jersey on the left side of the chest.
The Red Wings will also honor "Mr. Hockey" throughout the season with a red "9" painted in the ice behind both nets at Joe Louis Arena.
PAIR OF GIVEAWAYS SET FOR HOME OPENER
All fans in attendance for the Home Opener will receive a Gordie Howe Poster to honor the Red Wings' legend. Fans will be encouraged to hold up their posters during an in-game tribute to honor "Mr. Hockey" during the first period.
Additionally, all fans at the Home Opener will receive a Rally Towel, featuring "Farewell Season at The Joe" artwork, presented by MotorCity Casino Hotel.
