De la Rose, 23, has spent parts of the last four seasons with the Montreal Canadiens, totaling 119 games and registering 19 points (8-11-19) and 51 penalty minutes, in addition to appearing in 12 playoff games during the 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs. The 6-foot-3, 216-pound winger has not yet seen game action in 2018-19 after starting the season on injured reserve. In 2017-18, de la Rose appeared in a career-high 55 games for Montreal and totaled 12 points (4-8-12) alongside 29 penalty minutes. He also totaled 56 points (27-29-56) and 67 penalty minutes in 133 career American Hockey League games between the Hamilton Bulldogs (2014-15) and St. John's IceCaps (2015-17).
Originally drafted by Montreal in the second round (34th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, de la Rose spent parts of three seasons playing professionally in his native Sweden prior to moving to North America. The Arvika, Sweden, native produced 13 points (7-6-13) and 18 penalty minutes in 49 games for Leksands IF in the Swedish Hockey League in 2013-14 and 14 points (8-6-14) and 39 penalty minutes in 52 games for the same club in second-tier Sweden from 2011-13. De la Rose also has experience internationally for Sweden, picking up a goal and an assist at the 2018 IIHF World Championship to claim a gold medal and totaling 10 points (5-5-10) in 20 games over three-consecutive IIHF World Junior Championships from 2013-15, the final year of which he skated alongside Red Wings rookie forward Christoffer Ehn.
