ELMONT, N.Y. -- The Detroit Red Wings will play the first half of a weekend back-to-back road set on Saturday afternoon, facing off against the New York Islanders at UBS Arena.

Puck drop for Saturday's matinee between Detroit (28-24-9; 65 points) and New York (31-25-8; 70 points) is set for 12:30 p.m., with broadcast coverage on Bally Sports Detroit and the Red Wings Radio Network (97.1 The Ticket in Detroit).
Red Wings executive vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman made four trades ahead of Friday's 2023 NHL Trade Deadline
, dealing Filip Hronek, Tyler Bertuzzi, Jakub Vrana and Oskar Sundqvist all in exchange for future draft capital.
And as part of the trade with the St. Louis Blues, Detroit acquired center Dylan McLaughlin, who was immediately loaned to the American Hockey League's Springfield Thunderbirds.
"It's been an emotional drain here for the group, which is understandable" Red Wings head coach Derek Lalonde said. "Just the state of what has transpired here in four to five days, to literally being over the playoff line for the first time in a while to where we are now."

Detroit saw its winless streak extend to four games when the club's comeback efforts fell short in a 5-4 overtime loss to the Seattle Kraken on Thursday. Ben Chiarot, Adam Erne, Jonatan Berggren and Jake Walman all scored for the Red Wings, who are 9-5-9 in one-goal games this season.
"Maybe felt a little sorry for ourselves in the first period and it showed," Lalonde said. "We get down 3-1, probably should have been 4-1 or 5-1. But once we got back in playing, I thought we had a great second, third and push. The reality is we got a really good point. We'll ask the same of the guys this weekend."

The Islanders came up short, 2-1, in a shootout against the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday. Bo Horvat (36-26-62) has four points in his last five games, while Mathew Barzal leads the Isles with 37 assists. Goalie Ilya Sorokin is 20-18-6 this season with a 2.37 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage.
Detroit blanked the Islanders, 3-0, on Nov. 5 at Little Caesars Arena before the Isles shut out the Red Wings, 2-0, on Jan. 27 at UBS Arena.

Red Wings recall Nedeljkovic from Grand Rapids

On Friday, the Red Wings recalled Alex Nedeljkovic from the Grand Rapids Griffins under emergency conditions.
Nedeljkovic has appeared in nine games with Detroit this season, posting a 2-4-2 record with a 4.09 goals-against average and a .880 save percentage.

After Friday's practice, Lalonde said he does not expect Ville Husso will play against the Islanders, citing that the 28-year-old netminder has "been dealing with something."
"I don't think it's major, but I don't think he'll be available for us for Saturday," Lalonde said. "Maybe not the weekend, but I don't think it's long term."
