SEATTLE --The Detroit Red Wings saw their season-long five-game winning streak end in a 4-2 loss to the Seattle Kraken on Saturday night at Climate Pledge Arena.

Pius Suter tied the game at one for Detroit at 19:44 of the first period, but Seattle scored back-to-back goals in the second to take a 3-1 advantage into the final frame. The Kraken claimed their largest lead of the night, 4-1, early in the third before Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin wrapped up the scoring at 17:39 of the period with his team-leading 22nd goal of the season.
"We just didn't execute," Red Wings head coach Derek Lalonde said. "They were definitely the better second-effort team and a little bigger in some situations. Again, lack of execution. We're gonna look back at some opportunities to make plays, especially with some of our offense."
Goalie Ville Husso made 22 saves for Detroit, which dropped to 26-21-8 (60 points) overall. Seattle (32-18-6; 70 points) won its second straight home game.
Tyler Bertuzzi and Filip Hronek both appeared in their 300th career NHL game on Saturday.
"We need to bounce back," said Larkin, who extended his point streak to seven consecutive games. "There's no better opportunity than Washington, a team we're trying to catch. We have that game marked."
NEXT UP: The Red Wings will look to finish their season-long road trip on a high note, returning to action on Tuesday night against Washington Capitals at Capital One Arena.

With the seconds winding down in the first period, two Kraken defensemen put pressure on Suter in the right faceoff circle. Suter spun with the puck, created space and fed Filip Zadina in front of Seattle's net. After Zadina's attempt was stopped by opposing netminder Philipp Grubauer, the puck slid to Jake Walman near the top of the left faceoff circle. Walman's shot was also fought off by Grubauer, but Suter put home the rebound for his ninth goal of the season. Suter has scored a goal in two straight games.

"We're playing well. Guys are buying in. This road trip has been a ton of fun. It's been a lot of smiles. We're very disappointed with tonight, but we know we can't win them all. We're gonna have to bounce back and finish off the road trip on a positive note with a record we would take every time on this road trip."
Andrew Copp on Larkin's impressive stretch
"He's confident with the puck. He's got some chemistry with his linemates it feels like, Bert especially. They just know where to find each other."
