DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings organization made headlines at the 2022 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship at Rogers Place in Edmonton.
All nine Red Wings prospects advanced to the quarterfinals, and two players - defenseman Donovan Sebrango and goalie Sebastian Cossa of Canada - won gold medals in the international tournament. Take a look at how Detroit's rising talent finished the 10-team event:
UNITED STATES
Forwards Carter Mazur and Red Savage helped Team USA place fifth overall among qualifying countries at the World Championship. In last Wednesday's 4-2 quarterfinals loss to the Czech Republic, Mazur scored and was named Team USA's Player of the Game, while Savage logged 9:37 of ice time.
Mazur, who is a Jackson, Mich., native, finished with a team-leading five goals among seven points and was named one of the Team USA's top three players of the tournament.
CANADA
Sebrango and Cossa helped Canada capture its 19th World Juniors gold. Sebrango, who was an alternate captain for his native country, logged 20:12 of ice time in last Wednesday's 6-3 quarterfinals win over Switzerland, then earned a plus-1 rating in 20:53 in last Friday's 5-2 semifinals win over the Czech Republic.
The next day, Sebrango played 18 minutes in a 3-2 overtime win over Finland in the gold-medal game.
SWEDEN
Forward Theodor Niederbach and blueliners Simon Edvinsson and William Wallinder were steady contributors in Edmonton, helping Sweden take third place. Last Wednesday, Wallinder tallied an assist while Edvinsson played 18 minutes and Niederbach played 17 minutes in a 2-1 quarterfinals win over Latvia. Two days later, Edvinsson logged a team-leading 22:43 of ice time in a 1-0 semifinals loss to Finland. Niederbach and Wallinder both played 17 minutes.

Then last Saturday, Edvinsson again led Sweden in ice time (25:54) while Niederbach and Wallinder both recorded a helper in a 3-1 win over the Czech Republic in the bronze-medal game.
FINLAND
Defenseman Eemil Viro and Finland won silver at the World Junior Championship. Viro logged 17:33 of ice time in last Wednesday's 5-2 quarterfinals win over Germany, then registered 20:15 in last Friday's 1-0 semifinals victory over Sweden.
He collected an assist in last Saturday's gold-medal game against Canada.
CZECH REPUBLIC
