DALLAS -- David Perron is scheduled to play in his 1,000th career NHL game on Saturday afternoon when the Detroit Red Wings face the Dallas Stars for a 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT puck drop at American Airlines Center.

Broadcast coverage of Saturday's matinee between the Red Wings (13-8-5; 31 points) and Stars (15-7-5; 35 points) will air on Bally Sports Detroit and NHL Network, in addition to the Red Wings Radio Network (97.1 The Ticket in Detroit).
For Perron, officially reaching the 1,000-game milestone on Saturday "is gonna be fun."
"It means a lot, obviously," Perron said. "Just going through different things in my career so far, it's a special number and something I'm really proud of."

The 26th overall pick in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Perron was just 19 years old when he made his NHL debut with the St. Louis Blues on Oct. 12, 2007. Fast forward to the present day, Perron is a 15-year NHL veteran who played with the Blues, Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Anaheim Ducks and Vegas Golden Knights before signing a two-year free-agent contract with the Red Wings in July.
And the 34-year-old Perron is showing no signs of slowing down. The veteran forward has skated in all 26 games this season, tallying eight goals and 12 assists for 20 points, including a plus-2 rating.
"We've had a good start so far and we're also not satisfied," Perron said. "We wanna keep getting better. I think that's the cool part right now. We can still get better and become a better team."

Dallas is coming off a 4-3 overtime win over the Ottawa Senators on Thursday. Saturday's matchup marks the finale of a five-game homestand for the Stars, who have won two of their last four games, and scored at least four goals in three of those contests.
Detroit has grabbed four points on its current road trip, and will be looking to conclude the swing with a winning record. The Red Wings are 6-4-2 away from home this season, and began the trip with a pair of four-goal outputs against the Columbus Blue Jackets (Dec. 4) and Tampa Bay Lightning (Dec. 6). Detroit will be looking to bounce back from a 5-1 defeat at Florida on Thursday.

Dallas' Jason Robertson, who played for Little Caesars AAA Hockey Club 14U and the Detroit Kings 15U, is tied for third in the NHL in scoring with 41 points on a team-leading 23 goals and 18 assists. The Stars winger posted an 18-game point streak from Oct. 27 - Dec. 4. Goalies Jake Oettinger and Scott Wedgewood have shared starting duties in net this season, combining for a 2.80 goals-against average and .912 save percentage.
Detroit and Dallas will play once more this season, squaring off at Little Caesars Arena on April 10, 2023, in the Red Wings' regular season home finale.
