Red Wings assign three and place three on injured reserve

Detroit reduces roster to 25 active

DETROIT -The Detroit Red Wings today assigned left wing Matt Puempel and defenseman Dylan McIlrath to the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins and assigned right wing Lane Zablocki to the Western Hockey League's Kelowna Rockets. Additionally, the Red Wings placed defenseman Mike Green on injured reserve and placed right wing Evgeny Svechnikov and defenseman Brian Lashoff on non-roster injured reserve.

The Red Wings' roster currently sits at 25 players: 14 forwards, nine defensemen and two goaltenders. After wrapping up preseason play with a 7-1-0 record, the Red Wings must submit their 23-man roster by Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. Detroit will open the regular season by hosting the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Little Caesars Arena (FOX Sports Detroit/97.1 The Ticket).
