PHILADELPHIA -- The Detroit Red Wings' bad luck in Philadelphia has been well-documented.
Coming into Saturday afternoon's game at Wells Fargo Center, the Wings had just one win in the City of Brotherly Love, a 3-2 shootout victory on Nov. 8, 2016, since Game 2 of the 1997 Stanley Cup Finals.

To make matters worse, the Wings had a poor start, spotting the Flyers a 5-1 lead before storming back to tie the game with seven seconds left in regulation, only to lose in overtime, 6-5, when Travis Konecny scored his second of the game at 1:27.
It was just the third time in franchise history the Wings had rallied from a four-goal deficit or more to earn at least a point, the last time coming Dec. 27, 1989 at Toronto.
Gustav Nyquist, Tyler Bertuzzi, Thomas Vanek and Anthony Mantha (two) scored for the Wings.
Shayne Gostisbehere, Konecny (power play, overtime winner), Scott Laughton, Jakub Voracek and Nolan Patrick scored for the Flyers.
Detroit goaltender Jimmy Howard had 19 saves before being replaced by Jonathan Bernier in the third period. Bernier made seven stops.
Philadelphia rookie goalie Carter Hart had 33 saves, improving to 2-0-0 against the Wings.
The Wings fell to 23-28-8. The Flyers improved to 27-24-7.
Up next for the Wings and Flyers is a rematch in Detroit Sunday night at Little Caesars Arena.
1. Anthony Mantha: After Vanek cut the Flyers' lead to 5-3, Mantha made it a one-goal game, going to the net and deflecting Danny DeKeyser's shot at 8:36 of the 3rd. Christoffer Ehn had the second assist on Mantha's 13th goal of the season. It was Mantha's first goal in 10 games and first career goal in six games against the Flyers. With just seven seconds left in regulation, Mantha deflected Mike Green's shot over Hart's left shoulder to tie the game, 5-5. Mantha finished with 20 shifts for 17:44, had a team-high six shots, one hit, one giveaway, was 0-for-1 in face-offs and was plus-2.

Quotable: "I think that's one good period only. I don't think we played 60 minutes. They were all over us in the first and second periods and we decided to play one, not even, we decided to play 18 minutes and we got four goals. We got good talent in there. If we play the right way, we could win games. It shows great character from our team. It's not easy to come back from four goals. We proved we can do it. Tomorrow, if we play 60 minutes that way, we can try to pull a win." - Mantha
Quotable II: "We've got him off the net on the power play this year. We were trying to utilize his shot. We've got some other good net front guys with Ras (Michael Rasmussen) and Van (Vanek) around the net. But sometimes, Adam Nightingale's on me all the time to put him back in front of the net, just to emphasize it to him and to help his five on five game. He's a big, big body. Him and I talked about it two games ago. He's gotta find ways to score more of those O-zone greasy-type goals. That's how you get your production really high, by scoring those - I don't want to call them easy - but by scoring those net-front goals. Then you can use your skill to score a few goals. But you gotta score the dirty goals if you want high production. - Wings coach Jeff Blashill

  1. Tyler Bertuzzi: Before the game, Wings coach Jeff Blashill said that they had missed Tyler Bertuzzi as he missed seven games after the All-Star break and bye due to a concussion suffered in Edmonton on Jan. 22. Bertuzzi returned to the lineup Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia and assisted on the Wings' first goal, scored by Nyquist, and then scored at 2:39 of the third period, beating Hart from the slot into the far corner of the net. It was Bertuzzi's 14th goal of the season. Dylan Larkin got the lone assist. Bertuzzi finished with 27 shifts for 19:32, had three shots, one hit and was even.

Quotable: "I had a lot of good skates before. You never not remember how to play hockey, you've been playing your whole life. Maybe the first period I kind of just got back into it and then I felt back at home. I actually felt good. I thought I was going to be a lot more tired than I was but I felt good and we had some good chemistry. I had a lot of chances and I'm looking forward to tomorrow." - Bertuzzi
Quotable II: "He's a huge impact, he played amazing tonight. That feed on Nyquie's goal was a great pass and then we got a nice pass from Larkin from behind the net and managed to put one in, so it feels great to have him back. He works hard and it opens up space for the two other guys." - Mantha
Quotable III: "I didn't have an expectation of him not looking good. I didn't know what to expect. He's been off a little bit but he's been able to skate a lot, so that usually helps guys. I think he's a real smart player, so real smart players tend to find ways to have positive impacts in the game. And he's a real competitive player, so he won tons of competition battles. I thought he played a good game." - Blashill
3. Gustav Nyquist/Thomas Vanek: Early in the first, Nyquist barely missed a chance to put the puck in the open right side of the net. The Flyers then took a 1-0 lead. But Nyquist was ready when he got another opportunity. Bertuzzi spun and fired the puck toward the net and Nyquist was ready on the left doorstep to redirect the puck past Hart. It was Nyquist's 15th goal of the season and just his second career goal (2-5-7) against the Flyers in 16 games. Mike Green got the second assist. Vanek got his 12th goal of the season when he carried the puck into the zone to the left circle and then patiently waited before firing the puck short-side, which cut the Flyers lead to 5-3. Nyquist finished with 29 shifts for 20:07, had five shots, one hit, was 1-for-2 in face-offs and was plus-1. Vanek finished with 18 shifts for 13:55, had three shots, one hit, was 0-for-1 in face-offs and was plus-2.

Quotable: "I came over the line and I knew we had an odd-man rush. They had a good backcheck. I had a bunch of lefties with me, so I just kind of opened up to see if I could find a lane. Couldn't find anything, the goalie was cheating a little bit somewhere, so I just figured I'd get it to the net." - Vanek
Quotable II: "I have no idea, we just started playing our hockey. Berns (Bernier) played unbelievable for us, made some big saves that kept us in the game so we could come back there. We can learn from it and move forward." - Bertuzzi

  1. Filip Hronek: Before the game, the Wings announced that rookie defenseman Hronek was recalled from the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins. Hronek led all Griffins defensemen in points and is tied for sixth in overall scoring. He has 23 points (7-16-23) in 28 games. In 23 games with the Wings, Hronek has three goals and seven assists while averaging 18:25 per game. Blashill said Hronek would play Sunday at home against the Flyers but declined to say whom he would replace in the lineup.
Quotable: "He's been sent down twice and I thought in both cases he got better. In this last game I watched him he was great. Ken (Holland) and I have talked about this for a little bit, that potentially we'd make that flip between the two of them. Sometimes as a young player I think it's been good for Dennis (Cholowski). Dennis earned his way onto the team out of camp. But as I said earlier, it'll help him to be at a level where he can improve on some of those deficiencies from a defensive standpoint and produce a little more offense than he has here in the last little bit. So I think the flip can be good, it's good for Fil who's done a real good job down there." - Blashill
