At The Final Horn | Sabres score late, but fall in OT to Detroit

Jeff Skinner's late goal in the third period helped the Buffalo Sabres earn a point against the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday.
However, rookie Lucas Raymond scored 26 seconds into overtime to give the Red Wings a 3-2 victory at Little Caesars Arena.
Dylan Cozens recorded Buffalo's first goal and Dustin Tokarski made 38 saves in his second start in as many nights.
Carter Rowney and Pius Suter also scored for Detroit. Alex Nedeljkovic earned the victory with 26 stops.

How it happened

There was no scoring in the first period as Detroit outshot the Sabres 11-7.
On the rush, Cozens redirected a pass in from Brett Murray to open the scoring 5:04 into the second period.
With traffic in front, the Red Wings scored two quick goals to go up 2-1.
At the 9:56 mark, Rowny was credited with Detroit's goal and then 1:11 later, Suter scored to put the Red Wings ahead.

With 1:37 remaining in regulation and the goaltender pulled, Skinner deflected in a slap shot by Cody Eakin to tie the game.
Buffalo did not have a power-play opportunity in the game. The penalty kill was 3-for-3.

The Sabres will return home and face the Seattle Kraken for the first time in Buffalo. Seattle won the first-ever matchup between the clubs back on November 4.
