The Buffalo Sabres made sure Owen Power's NHL debut would be filled with nothing but positives.
Playing in front of dozens of family members and friends, the first-overall pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, a native of Mississauga, Ontario, skated 19:50 in Buffalo's 5-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday at Scotiabank Arena.
Kyle Okposo, Tage Thompson, Jeff Skinner, Rasmus Dahlin and Rasmus Asplund all scored for Buffalo. Alex Tuch and Victor Olofsson both recorded a pair of primary assists. Craig Anderson made 24 saves.
Timothy Liljegren and Alexander Kerfoot scored for Toronto while Erik Kallgren stopped 23 shots.
Buffalo's power play went 2-for-4. The penalty kill finished a perfect 5-for-5. .
