The Sabres have made their first move in free agency, and it's another familiar face coming back to Buffalo. Goalie Chad Johnson, who appeared in 45 games for the Sabres in 2015-16, has signed a one-year deal for $2.5 million.
Johnson left Buffalo in free agency last summer to join his hometown Calgary Flames, where he split the goaltending duties with Brian Elliott. In 36 starts last season, Johnson posed an 18-15-1 record with a .910 save percentage and a 2.59 goals-against average.
Calgary traded Johnson and his negotiating rights to Arizona on June 17.
We know some time has passed since we last saw Johnson in a Sabres sweater, so let's get reacquainted with the Buffalo goaltender.
