Players will walk into the arena wearing "Choose Love" T-shirts and will wear custom "Choose Love" jerseys during warmups.
The warmup jerseys will be up for auction at Sabres.com/Auctions at the start of warmups at 7 p.m. that night. Proceeds from the action will benefit Persistence Preparatory Academy and Agents for Advocacy.
Warmup pucks featuring the "Choose Love" wordmark will be on sale at The Sabres Store during the game while supplies last.
Jillian Hanesworth, Buffalo's poet laureate, has written a poem that will be performed as part of a video feature to kick off the night. The poem touches on themes of unity, allyship and supporting each other all-year round.
The ELIM Christian Fellowship choir will sing both the U.S. and Canadian national anthems. DJ Brei will provide music in the pavilion before the game and "rock 'n soul" band Farrow will be live on Stage 120 after warmups and during intermissions.
The Sabres have donated tickets to families of the May 14 victims, as well as Open Buffalo, Wakanda Alliance, Black Boys Read Too, Feed Buffalo and the Resource Council of WNY for members of their organizations to attend the game, and to students at Persistence Prep.
Lucky rows throughout the night will also win products or gift cards from local Black-owned businesses. For more information on those businesses and other resources, fans can visit Sabres.com/ChooseLove.
Ahead of the game, Sabres players are slated to visit the Explore & More Children's Museum with students from the Stanley G. Falk School, and the Students of the Game program will make stops at Persistence Preparatory Academy and the Stanley Makowski Early Childhood Center.
