LOS ANGELES – The Buffalo Sabres will look to rebound from their loss in Anaheim when they visit the Los Angeles Kings to conclude a back-to-back set on Wednesday.

The Sabres fell 4-2 to the Ducks on Tuesday to open their three-game road trip through California, which concludes Saturday in San Jose.

Pregame coverage on MSG/MSG+ begins at 10 p.m. with puck drop scheduled for 10:30. Radio coverage can be found on WGR 550.

Here are five things to know.

1. About last night

The Sabres fell behind 3-0 early in the second period following a sequence of goals scored 53 seconds apart by Sam Carrick and Jakob Silfverberg.

Buffalo pulled within one late in the third period on the strength of goals from Jordan Greenway and Kyle Okposo, but an empty-net goal by Ducks forward Adam Henrique ended the comeback bid.

2. Lineup notes

The Sabres will be without defenseman Erik Johnson, who was placed on injured reserve Tuesday and remains day to day with an upper-body injury. Johnson has not been ruled out for Saturday’s game in San Jose.

Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen has started the last six games in goal, including a 33-save performance in Anaheim. Devon Levi last started for the Sabres against Seattle on Jan. 9 but earned the victory in a spot start for Rochester on Saturday.

The team will not have a morning skate Wednesday. Don Granato will meet with the media around 9 p.m. EST.

3. Streaking

Rasmus Dahlin enters Wednesday riding a four-game point streak, with one goal and three assists in that span. He leads NHL defensemen with 13 goals and ranks seventh with 38 points this season.

4. Hot against Los Angeles

Alex Tuch has six points in his last six games against the Kings. Dylan Cozens has four points in four career meetings, including a goal in Buffalo’s most recent visit to Los Angeles last February.

5. Scouting the Kings

The Kings are 2-5-4 in January but still occupy the first wild card spot in the Western Conference, the product of a strong start to the season by a defensive game that ranks third in the NHL with an average of 2.52 goals against per game.

Kevin Fiala leads Los Angeles with 41 points while Trevor Moore leads the team with 21 goals, already a career high.
