The Buffalo Sabres have recalled forward Brett Murray from the Rochester Americans and placed forward Jeff Skinner on injured reserve, the team announced Thursday.
Skinner sustained an upper-body injury following a hit from Colorado Avalanche forward Nathan MacKinnon during the second period on Wednesday. Players on injured reserve are required to miss a minimum of seven days, retroactive to their most recent game played.
Murray, 25, made his season debut for the Sabres during their win over Arizona on Monday, accounting for three hits in 10:47. He was loaned to Rochester on Wednesday to clear room on the roster for forward Alex Tuch, who was activated from injured reserve prior to the game against Colorado.
