TAMPA- Owen Power took the ice for the first time as a member of the Sabres inside Amalie Arena on Sunday morning, though he will have more time get acclimated before joining the lineup.
Power, who signed his three-year, entry-level contract on Friday, is expected to make his NHL debut in his hometown Toronto on Tuesday night.
His instructions for the Sabres' game against the Tampa Bay Lightning this evening are simple.
"I'm more inclined to let him just soak it up, soak it in (rather) than start giving him certain things to watch," Sabres coach Don Granato said. "He's an intuitive kid, intuitive player. I've watched him grow and develop over the last four or five years. So, I don't want to give him too much."
Coverage on MSG begins at 4:30 p.m. The puck drops at 5.
Here are five things to know.

1. Power joins the Sabres

Power met the team during its day off in Tampa on Saturday. He took part in an optional skate this morning and will have a full practice in Toronto on Monday before making his debut.
The Sabres will have eight games remaining after this evening. Granato and Adams told the 19-year-old defenseman to simply be himself on and off the ice as he acclimates to the NHL.
"Go out there and play and have fun," Power said when asked about his goals for the remainder of the season. "I know I'm obviously going to have to work to get in the lineup every night, but I think just kind of go out here and have fun and get adjusted."

2. Fitzgerald joins the lineup

Casey Fitzgerald will step in on defense in place of Mark Pysyk, Granato said. He will skate on a pair with Mattias Samuelsson.

3. Anderson in goal

Craig Anderson will start in goal. He made 35 saves in his previous start against the Lightning this season, a 5-1 win in Buffalo on Oct. 25.

4. Streaks to watch

Jeff Skinner (3+4) and Tage Thompson (4+3) both enter Sunday on five-game point streaks. Skinner joined Thompson as Buffalo's second forward to reach 30 goals in Florida on Friday.
Victor Olofsson has scored goals in three straight contests, upping his season total to 18. He has 11 goals in 19 games dating back to the beginning of March.

5. Scouting the Lightning

The Sabres and Lightning split the first two games of their season series. The Sabres won 5-1 behind Anderson's 35-save performance in October. They were missing four of their top forwards due to COVID-19 in a 6-1 loss in Buffalo on Jan. 11.
The rubber match comes on the heels of tight road losses to Carolina and Florida - like Tampa Bay, two Eastern Conference contenders with raucous, playoff-like crowds.
"It's another challenging yet exciting opportunity for our guys and they've thrived in that situation from the standpoint of fully engaging in it," Granato said.
