The Buffalo Sabres today announced that forward Jack Eichel has been diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain and will be out indefinitely.

Eichel sustained the injury with 6:52 left in the first period of Saturday night's 4-2 win in Boston.

Eichel leads the team in goals (22) assists (31) and points (53). Thirty-four of those points have come since the beginning of December. His 16 multi-point games this season through 55 games have tied his career best set in 2016-17.
He missed the first 21 games of last season with a left high-ankle sprain.
