Buffalo Sabres forward Kyle Okposo has undergone successful surgery to repair a broken bone in his cheek and will miss the remainder the season, the team announced Saturday afternoon.
The Sabres alternate captain sustained the injury when he was hit in the head by an errant shoot-in attempt during the first period of Thursday's game in Washington. Okposo, 33, finishes the 2020-21 season with 13 points (2+11) in 35 games. He recorded 10 those points, including both goals, over his last 13 games.
