Last night's game recap

Rieder, Skinner both score in 3-2 loss to Devils

Buffalo held a 2-1 lead in the second period last night thanks to a pair of goals 57 seconds apart by Tobias Rieder and Jeff Skinner. However, the Devils clawed back to tie it before the end of the period and then net what turned out to be the game-winning goal early in the third period on the power play.
The game came on the heels of back-to-back shutout losses at home (3-0 to the Penguins on Saturday and 6-0 to the Capitals on Monday).

POSTGAME: Montour

POSTGAME: Skinner

"Last night, I think everybody in the hockey world kind of saw that as an embarrassment," defenseman Brandon Montour said of the loss to Washington. "Us as players, we don't want to come out that way and have those results.
"This was another night we wanted to scratch that one, be positive as best we can and focus on tonight, and I think the energy level was there. In the end, still a loss."

POSTGAME: Rieder

POSTGAME: Krueger

Buffalo was unable to capitalize on its early opportunities in what ended as a 3-2 loss, extending the team's winless streak to 12 games (0-10-2). The Sabres went 0-for-2 with no shots on goal while on the power play last night and are 0-for-17 on the man advantage over the past 11 games.
"It was an excellent effort," Krueger said after the game. "But we're not rewarded for effort, we're rewarded for results."
