20221024 Sharpen Up Mediawall

The Buffalo Sabres are riding a three-game win streak and will look to sweep their road trip tomorrow night in Seattle.
Faceoff against the Kraken is 10 p.m. on MSG and WGR 550. Dan Dunleavy and Rob Ray will have the call. Pregame coverage starts at 9:30 on MSG.
Here's what you need to know.

Last week's big story

Rasmus Dahlin.

The Sabres defenseman has set an NHL record among blueliners with his five-game goal streak to open the season.
He also became the third defensemen in the past 13 years to record a five-game goal streak, joining Cale Makar (5 GP in 2021-22) and Roman Josi (5 GP in 2019-20).

BUF@VAN: Dahlin records his 5th goal in 5 games

He's first in the NHL among defensemen with eight points and he's tied for fifth overall with his five goals.
In franchise history, only Gilbert Perreault and Thomas Vanek have opened a season with goals in five-straight games.
For more on the streak, check out Saturday's Postgame Report.

The games ahead

Following Tuesday's game, the team will head home to open a four-game homestand at KeyBank Center.
They'll face the Montreal Canadiens at 7 p.m. on Thursday. Tickets are on sale now.
Then, they'll take on Chicago on Saturday, Detroit on Halloween, and Pittsburgh on November 2.

That November 2 game will make the debut of the team's new Reverse Retro jerseys. Read more about them here.

What else to watch for this week

BUF@CGY: Tuch nets 3 goals against the Flames

Alex Tuch has also been on a tear. He's scored in four-straight games and is tied for second in the NHL with 6. He posted his first career hat trick on Thursday against Edmonton.
Craig Anderson, in two starts, leads the league with both a 1.00 goals-against average and a .970 save percentage.
JJ Peterka is tied for fourth in rookie scoring with four points.
Due to injuries to Henri Jokiharju (who sustained an upper-body injury on Thursday and is now back in Buffalo) and Mattias Samuelsson (who left Saturday's game with a lower-body injury), the team has recalled defensemen Lawrence Pilut and Kale Clague from Rochester.
Stay tuned for updates and other news when the team takes the ice for practice Monday afternoon in Seattle.
